The affiliates dropped three of four games Tuesday. #WeAreBlueJays

Worcester 9 Buffalo 4

T.J. Zeuch was zonked for four home runs among seven total on nine hits over 4-2/3 innings, striking out five.Dany Jiménez got the final out of the fifth and stranded a runner for Zeuch. Nick Allgeyer allowed the other two runs in 1-1/3 innings. James Dykstra allowed both of Allgeyer's runners to score. Ty Tice walked two but tossed a scoreless eighth.

Kevin Smith provided the bulk of Buffalo's offence against the Red Sox affiliate with a three-run home run but struck out three times. Dilson Herrera had an RBI single. Riley Adams tripled and singled to raise his batting average to .133.

Portland 12 New Hampshire 6

New Hampshire rallied from a 6-2 deficit but the Red Sox affiliate pulled away late with a five-run eighth. Sam Ryan took the loss by giving up a three-run homer and a two-run shot. Elvis Luciano put up zeros in his first three innings before giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks, whiffing two in 4-1/3 innings. Graham Spraker made his season debut and allowed one of two Luciano runners to score, walking two and striking out one to get the final two outs of the fifth. Emerson Jimenez was jolted for three runs in two innings. Connor Law had an unearned run on his line after working the ninth.

Otto Lopez is now batting .400 after a double and two singles. He also stole two bases. Gabriel Moreno belted a three-run home run and Jordan Groshans was 1-for-3 with a run scored before being replaced by Vinny Capra, who walked twice. All 10 Fisher Cat batters got on base at least once by a hit or a walk. Reggie Pruitt had a triple, Samad Taylor and Nick Podkul doubled and L.J. Talley got his first Double-A hit. Ex-Jays farmhand Josh Winckowski gave up just two runs in five innings for Portland.

Vancouver 13 Hillsboro 4

Despite the hospitality from Hillsboro to allow the C's to share their home field, Vancouver showed their hosts no mercy at Ron Tonkin Field. Every Canadians hitter had at least one hit and six had multi-hit efforts in racking up 18 hits. Ryan Gold had three hits with two doubles and three RBI. Cameron Eden had three hits, a walk and two stolen bases and is hitting .341 on the year after going 7-for-11 in his last two games. Tanner Morris reached base five times with three hits and two walks. Spencer Horwitz doubled, walked three times and swiped a bag.

Sean Wymer gave up two runs over four frames on five hits and three walks while striking out four. Marcus Reyes got the win with 2-2/3 innings of scoreless relief. stranding two runners for Brayden Bouchey, who allowed a run. Will McAffer gave up a run on two hits and three walks but struck out five.

Clearwater 5 Dunedin 4 (10 Innings)

Adrian Hernandez was tagged with the blown save and the loss in his two-plus innings of work. He issued an intentional walk to the first hitter he faced in the 10th inning with a runner already on second but the strategy did not work as the next hitter walked it off with a base hit for the Phillies affiliate. Starter Naswell Paulino lasted 4-1/3 innings, yielding runs in the first and fifth on five hits and four walks while striking out four. Julian Valdez limited the damage for Paulino by stranding two runners. He allowed a solo homer but rung up four in 2-2/3 innings.

Orelvis Martinez doubled home the first two Dunedin runs to go along with a walk and stolen base. P.K. Morris singled home the other pair. Jhon Solarte had the lone two-hit night for the D-Jays and swiped a bag. Zach Britton singled and walked. Miguel Hiraldo had a double.

*** 3 Stars!!! ***

MLB.com mentioned Moreno's second home run, 4 RBI night and the fact that he's got a hit in every game played so far in their top 10 prospects of the day feature.

Cameron Eden is most likely NAP, but going to keep an eye on his lines for a while at least.

"Not A Prospect" hypobole? Why? No power?

Probably due to being a 6th round pick who in 2019 in A- hit 220/292/284 - kind of a surprise he is still here. Mainly a CF, but has been used in LF/RF/3B this year, and 2B/SS in 2019. At 23 in A+ he needs to show a lot this year to keep moving along and a 341/451/366 with 11-1 SB-CS line is certainly helping. With the low power he needs to showcase speed and defense to have a shot. I'd say a likely Davis type in a few years is the most likely 'high end' but a shot at a Mookie Wilson career if all goes well. Unlikely, but possible.

No Groshans or Martin in the lineup today. Groshans left yesterdays game half way through.

No NH transactions yet on the league transaction page.

Groshans (and Martin) could be a Tellez/Springer type injury. Almost better but not quite.

Speed, defence and versatility can do a lot for a guy with little power; but you need to make a lot of contact to make up for it, and Eden, even with his hot start, is striking out 19%.

Gerry, I've gotten to the various transaction pages through google, but I used to navigate there on the site using the "Leagues" tab. With the milb takeover, that tab seems gone. Is there a way to find transactions using the milb site?
Gerry - Wednesday, May 19 2021 @ 05:06 PM EDT (#398309) #
There still under the old sites, they have just renamed them. Google AAA East, etc and you should find them.

For example if you use this link, the title is still International League transactions.

Thanks, Gerry.
Simpson's fans may get this

Can I see the transactions for the International League?

It's AAA East son.

Where do I find them?

Under International League Transactions.

Casey Lawrence is back. He has been assigned to Buffalo. Lawrence had been pitching in an independent league.

A couple of catching prospects have traded HR's in the Buffalo game. 32 yr old Juan Graterol's 2 run shot gave the Bisons the lead, but 33 yr old Chris Herrmann halved it with a solo blast. That was also the 1st run given up by Alek Manoah this season.

Two hits, one walk and nine strikeouts through 5 innings for Manoah.  Still dominant.

Time for a poll question? “Should the Jays promote Manoah now?”
bpoz - Wednesday, May 19 2021 @ 10:10 PM EDT (#398344) #
Good poll greenfrog about Manoah. I am sure this FO will do the right thing. But I want to see the opinions of the Bauxites.
John Northey - Wednesday, May 19 2021 @ 10:10 PM EDT (#398345) #
Yep, Manoah is still dominate. Now has an ERA of 0.50 (skyrocketed up tonight) 6 IP total, 4 H 1 R/ER 1 BB 10 SO. 94 pitches, 64 strikes. Yeah, I think he is probably ready. The home run was a 2-1 count with 2 out right down the pipe it looks like (a bit below dead centre but close enough). So a net of 3 starts, 18 IP 7 H 1 R/ER on 1 HR 3 BB 27 SO 4 HBP. a WHIP under 1 (14 baserunners in 18 IP) and K rate of 13.5 per 9 IP or 1.5 per inning. Yikes. Clearly he is too good for AAA so the call up will be coming soon. Just a question of how much longer. Clearly he would've been better than Stripling tonight (and every other night). I suspect the Jays want to wait until June to minimize the service time issues potentially (who knows what the rules will be after this year) but I'd look at calling him up in 5 days for Striplings next start except to replace Kay instead (Stripling gets extra rest) for all intents and purposes. Although Kay's last outing was good, so maybe he straight out replaces Stripling and the Jays accept that trade didn't work out. The two are Ryan Noda - AAA 1B for Dodgers hitting 213/328/489 and Kendall Williams who is in low A at 20 and pitching well but not 'wow' 8 IP 4 H 1 R/ER 1 HR 4 BB 5 SO.
Shoeless Joe - Thursday, May 20 2021 @ 07:13 AM EDT (#398367) #
Anthony Kay has a 3.63 xERA and a 4.26 xFIP.

Ross Stripling had a 6.09 xERA and a 4.19 xFIP.

I would rather roll the dice on Kay, he has a big edge in contact quality allowed, and has much better chase rates. Kay has legitimately improved with his cutter this year.
John Northey - Thursday, May 20 2021 @ 09:49 AM EDT (#398371) #
Yeah, the more I look at it the more I prefer Kay to Stripling. The question is will the Jays cut bait on Stripling and move him to the pen?

Stripling: 6 starts, 5.0 Innings max (twice), Lowest hit total 4, lowest walk total 0 (last night), best K total 9. Runs allowed were 3-4-2-3-2-6. Team is 2-4 in his starts.

Kay: 3 starts, 1 relief (2 1/3 IP long outing). Peak innings is 4 (twice) runs allowed 5-4-3 (relief)-0. Best totals: hits 1 (last start), BB 0 (first start), K's 6 (last start). Jays 1-2 in his starts and lost his relief game (he came in with the Jays down 4, they lost by 3 in the end)

Yeah, no question in my mind Kay is the better bet going forward. Plus Kay isn't a free agent until after 2025 at the earliest. Stripling is after 2022. Lifetime Striplings ERA drops a full run in the pen. Might be time to just say 'screw it' and move him there when Manoah or Pearson is ready. Kay I'd push a bit see if you can get 5 out of him next start.

I hope Dewey doesn't see this!

I saw it mathesond. Tsk. But keep up your vigilance. John N. gets a bit slack sometimes.
