Buffalo 10 Pawtucket 6
Jonathan Davis and Patrick Kivlehan were the bash brothers for the Bisons, clubbing two home runs each. They also walked once with Davis driving in five and Kivlehan knocking home three. Bo Bichette and Alen Hansen also had two-hit, one-walk nights. Bichette stole two bases and Hanson took one. Roemon Fields and Andy Burns both had a hit with Burns swiping a bag. Reese McGuire drew a walk but Socrates Brito and Richard Urena were both 0-for-5.
Thomas Pannone earned the win by limiting the PawSox to a solo home run among five hits and two walks over five frames. He plunked Steve Pearce but got four groundouts and five whiffs. Corey Copping was cuffed around for four runs over two-thirds of an inning, including two home runs. Zach Jackson stranded the bases loaded for Copping and pitched 1-1/3 innings of scoreless ball with three punchouts. Justin Shafer gave up a run over the final two frames but also had three strikeouts.
Portland 8 New Hampshire 4
The SeaDogs broke it open with six runs in the fifth to break a 2-2 tie. Zach Logue was lit up for seven runs over 4-1/3 innings on six hits that included two homers. He walked two and struck out two. Jackson McClelland was jolted for a run over 1-2/3 innings. Jake Fishman reeled in three batters over two scoreless frames.
Santiago Espinal opened the scoring with an RBI double and Chad Spanberger hit a home run. Espinal had two hits and Kevin Smith collected a couple of doubles. Forrest Wall, Nash Knight and Christian Williams had base hits with Wall stealing a base. Logan Warmoth, Brock Lundquist, Alberto Mineo and Vinny Capra were all 0-for-4 with Capra getting an RBI.
Hillsboro 13 Vancouver 4
The C's dropped their third series in as many tries this season. Juan Diaz was dinged for two runs over three innings on four hits and two walks while ringing up three. Adams Cuevas put up a couple of zeros in the fourth and fifth innings but did not retire any of the two hitters he faced in the sixth. Nicolas Medina could not strand either runner and was mauled for five more runs in just two-thirds of an inning. Gage Burland stopped the bleeding to get the final out of the sixth but he was bombed for five runs in the seventh. Grayson Huffman allowed two of three inherited runners to score but finished up with 1-1/3 scoreless frames in which he plunked two and struck out three.
Dominic Abbadessa prevented the shutout with an RBI single in the ninth. He had two hits and a walk. Cameron Eden singled home a pair for a two-hit night. Ryan Sloniger singled. Trevor Schwecke, Yorman Rodriguez, Ronny Brito and McGregory Contreras walked. Will Robertson was hit by a pitch.
GCL Tigers West 9 GCL Blue Jays 4
Both clubs had 13 hits but the Jays could not spoil the home opener for their hosts. Jhon Solarte and Javier D'Orazio had three hits apiece with D'Orazio also doubling. Orelvis Martinez and Alberto Martinez were one hit back of the leaders with two each. Cullen Large had a single in his first at-bat before being replaced by Jose Rivas, who had a hit in four at-bats. Hugo Cardona also had a base hit. Pedro Hurtado walked once and Erickvi Celedonio walked twice. Rainer Nunez wore the golden sombrero as he went 0-for-5.
Julian Merryweather gave up two runs on four hits but posted a K-BB total of 3-0. Adrian Hernandez worked a one-hit third but Juan DePaula gave up a home run to Tigers first round pick Riley Greene
over his two innings on the hill. Austin Havekost got the blown save and the loss after allowing a two-run home run that erased a 4-3 Jays lead in the sixth. Julian Valdez got through the seventh but the duo of Brayan Mejia and Ronald Govea were gonged in the ninth. Meijia left the bases loaded and Greene homered off Govea to put the game away.
DSL Blue Jays 10 DSL Reds 3
The Jays scored nine runs over the first two innings, including a six-spot in the first. Glenn Santiago was a home run short of the cycle while Adrian Montero also enjoyed a big day at the dish with two hits and four runs batted in. Juan Pizzaro and Daniel Oliva turned in two-hit games. Amell Brazoban, Leonel Callez, Junior Ramos and Francisco Fajardo also had base knocks. Gabriel Martinez was 0-for-5 but still scored two runs and stole a base. Gary David came up empty in a pinch-hit at-bat.
The win went to Soenni Martinez who surrendered two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out six with six of his seven outs in play on the ground. Alcinto Pontes struck out one in a shutout sixth. Andres Garcia gave up an unearned run over two frames before Juan Martinez wrapped things up with an uneventful ninth.
