A doubleheader saw-off and a win in the Dominican produced a split of four games for the Blue Jays affiliates Monday. New Hampshire and Lansing had the night off. #LetsGoBlueJays


Buffalo 4 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

This game began April 20 when current Blue Jay Cavan Biggio singled home a run in the first inning. Teoscar Hernandez homered when the game resumed and Patrick Kivlehan doubled home a pair in the fourth. Current Jays Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a walk. Alen Hanson, Richard Urena and Reese McGuire also put a '1' in the hit column. Andy Burns and Roemon Fields both had a base on balls.

David Paulino worked two scoreless frames despite four hits as he struck out a pair. Zach Logue was on the hill for the game's resumption and stranded a runner for Paulino. The former Kentucky Wildcat gave up two runs on five hits, four walks and a hit by pitch while whiffing four over 3-1/3 innings for the win. Kirby Snead got the save by stranding two Logue runners. He pitched 1-2/3 innings of one-hit ball with two punchouts.


Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 8 Buffalo 2 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

Jordan Patterson belted a two-run home run to give the Herd a brief a 2-1 lead after two innings. Michael De La Cruz singled and doubled. Socrates Brito singled and walked. Tesocar Hernandez and Richard Urena also had base knocks.  Alen Hanson took one for the team. Billy McKinney was 0-for-4 and Roemon Fields was 0-for-3.

Andrew Sopko was stomped for a two-run home run and eight runs overall on nine hits and two walks over 3-2/3 innings. His K and GO totals were three apiece. Corey Copping stranded two runners and allowed just one hit and a plunked batter over 1-1/3 shutout innings, striking out one. Jonathan Cheshire coughed up a run on a hit, a hit by a pitch and a walk in the sixth. He worked around a double to pitch a scoreless seventh.


Charlotte 3 Dunedin 1

Nick Allgeyer struck out 10 and allowed just one run on six hits. He walked nobody and got five groundball outs in a no-decision. Taking the loss was Mike Ellenbest as he coughed up two runs over two frames. Connor Law walked one in a scoreless ninth.

The lone Dunedin run came when Chavez Young singled home a Kevin Vicuna double in fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Demi Orimoloye had the only other hit. Cullen Large and Ryan Noda drew walks. Alejandro Kirk was 0-for-4. Kacy Clemens, Norberto Obeso and Ronny Brito were a combined 0-for-9 but Obeso did throw out a runner at third from left field by starting a 7-6-4-5 play to end the first.


DSL Blue Jays 6 DSL White Sox 4

The Jays scored four times in the fifth to snap a 0-0 tie and added two more runs in the seventh to answer a three-run rally by the Pale Hose in the previous half-inning. Daniel Oliva was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Javier D'Orazio was 3-for-4 with a double and a run batted in. Amell Brazoban had two hits while Gabriel Martinez and Gustavo Gutierrez had the others. Francisco Fajardo walked and stole two bases. Wilfrann Astudio had a walk, a swipe and an RBI.

Bejardi Meza tossed four shutout innings of one-hit ball with one walk, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Jonatan Bernal was the winner with two frames of two-hit ball with one punchout. Jorman Gonzalez gave up all three runs in the seventh. The save went to Winder Garcia who finished off the final two frames with just one hit allowed while striking out three.

The Fisher Cats are going off pesticides.  Thumbs up.  Whatever the true rate of insect extinctions is (and it is the subject of some scientific debate), it is clear that the rate is at a far higher level than is good for the planet and ultimately human beings.
