The #BlueJays affiliates needed a come-from-behind victory to avoid being shutout in the win column Tuesday.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 7 Buffalo 1
Tim Lopes must wonder what he has to do to get a call-up. He went 3-for-5 with two doubles out of the leadoff spot. Rowdy Tellez went 2-for-4 with a double and Roemon Fields also had two hits in four at-bats but was caught stealing. Devon Travis was 1-for-5 and Ian Parmley had a base knock and a hit by pitch. Jason Leblebijian drove in the only run with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly and also drew a walk.Anthony Alford and Danny Jansen were a combined 0-for-8.
Ryan Borucki was bombed by the Yankees affiliate for six runs over five innings on a half-dozen hits and three walks while striking out five. Jake Petricka was popped for an unearned run over two innings. Al Alburquerque worked a shutout eighth.
New Hampshire 5 Reading 4
The Fisher Cats put up three runs in the ninth to walk off the Fightin' Phillies. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doubled and scored on a Cavan Biggio home run to tie the game at 4-4. Connor Panas and Patrick Cantwell were both plunked and that led to a bench-clearing brawl. That's not true but there shold have been. Andrew Guillotte was intentionally walked to load the bases but Ryan Hissey and Gunnar Heidt both hit into fielder's choices to keep them loaded. Just when it looked like the Fisher Cats could not stand prosperity, a wild pitch would score Guillotte with the winning run.
Biggio and Jonathan Davis had two hits apiece with Biggio also drawing a walk. Guerrero walked twice while Bo Bichette had a triple in five at-bats.
Nick Tepesch had a "quality start" by allowing three runs over six innings. He gave up 10 hits and a walk and struck out a pair to go with seven groundouts. Craig Breslow had a scoreless one-third of an inning but Dusty Isaacs allowed a run in 1-2/3 innings. Jose Fernandez got the win with a shutout ninth by walking one and whiffing two.
Bradenton 5 Dunedin 2
Joshes Palacios and Donaldson had two hits apiece with the former stealing a base and the latter hearing ball four once. Logan Warmoth had a hit in four trips to the plate. Nash Knight and Eduardo Pinto also had base knocks. Riley Adams whiffed three times in four at-bats and John La Prise had the hat trick as well.
A five-run third inning did Patrick Murphy in but he lasted six innings where he allowed six hits and struck out four without walking anyone. He racked up 11 outs on the ground. Connor Eller survived the seventh despite plunking a man and giving up two hits. Travis Bergen rung up two batters in a shutout eighth.
Kane County 6 Lansing 5
The Lugnuts nearly made it all the way back after trailing 5-0 but fell just short. Kacy Clemens cracked a grand-slam among his two hits and a walk. Christian Williams and Brock Lundquist also had two hits on the night with Williams taking one for the team. Chavez Young, Kevin Smith, Javier Hernandez, Samad Taylor and Norberto Obeso also put a notch in the hit column with Hernandez getting plunked.
Turner Larkins was lit up for four runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four and had five groundouts. Dany Jimenez gave up a run in the fifth. Graham Spraker surrendered just one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings.
