Players have been promoted and a few made their debuts last night.

Buffalo Bisons

A loss in Buffalo, but Roemon Fields continues to hit since his promotion. He had two hits on the night and is up to .321 with the batting average. Fields also made a great catch in center.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Lourdes Gurriel had a double in his AA debut. Gurriel, of course, had an error, which led to three unearned runs charged to started to Jon Harris. The Fisher Cats dropped this game 6-1.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Bo Bichette had three hits in the leadoff spot, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had two hits in the cleanup spot. The two accounted for five of the D-Jays seven hits. Bichette stole a bag, was caught stealing, and kicked a ball. Ryan Borucki had a really solid start and is turning in a really nice season. He went seven innings and allowed just one earned run. He struck out seven and walked two.

Lansing Lugnuts

Despite losing their two best hitters, Lansing seems so far unaffected. The club tallied eleven hits. Edward Olivares had a hit, a walk, and a stolen base. Andres Sotillo led the way with three hits.

Vancouver Canadians

Logan Warmoth had a hit and two strikeouts in his Vancouver debut. If Warmoth is looking for inspiration he need look no further than Riley Adams, who homered and had two hits on the evening.

Bluefield Blue Jays

Kevin Smith led the charge with three hits. The team combined for fourteen hits in total.

GCL Blue Jays

Rain.

DSL Blue Jays

Way down on the farm our DSL team had a rare loss.

Three Stars

3. Roemon Fields

2. Riley Adams

1. Ryan Borucki

Great catch by Fields. How about the throw to first? Is his arm good?

Throw: 45/45/45

Not great, but just catching the balls would put him ahead of Carrera and Pearce.

It took a while for him to adjust and for that reason i'd keep him there all year but if he keeps this up then at least he'll legitimately earn a promotion to start next year at AAA.

Baseball prospectus has an interesting piece about failed prospects - brings back memories - in light of Bo Bichette's season, it's worth remembering that Greg Jefferies was even better at a younger age & the New York hype machine made him the most hyped pre-internet prospect ever - He never fulfilled those lofty expectations and had to leave New York to have a few good seasons.

Yep.  Jefferies was a great prospect (dominating double A at age 19).  He didn't live up to expectations, but still managed to be an All-Star at ages 25-26.

It's a given that not all prospects will live up to expectations.  And some will exceed them, and be among the most valuable players in baseball (like Carlos Correa and Francisco Lindor and now Aaron Judge ).  I have no idea whether Bichette or VGJ will fall short of expectations, meet them or exceed them.

The bar to improving the corner outfield slot on the big league club is very, very low. Kendrys Morales has been taking up playing time at below replacement level and there is no reason to believe that he will do much better than that.  If you gave most of his playing time to Pearce and Bautista, you would improve the OF defence significantly and increase the chances that Pearce and Bautista would remain healthy and productive.

Roemon Fields has been hitting well in Buffalo and has posted almost an even W/K against RHP.  Dwight Smith Jr. has been struggling, but has been a decent enough platoon possibility.  At this point, I'd be inclined to give Fields a shot in the platoon role.
