Five wins for the affiliates. Bluefield's game was suspended. Dalton Pompey, Ryan Goins and good starting pitching helped Buffalo take both ends of a doubleheader. Richard Urena and Christian Lopes helped New Hampshire win. Anthony Alford, Jorge Flores and Ryan McBroom did the same for the D Jays. Three Canadian pitchers and a Canadian hitter led Lansing to a win. Lane Thomas helped too. Vancouver had a nice come from behind win.

Pawtucket 2 Buffalo 5

Dalton Pompey homered leading off the game. Ryan Goins singled and scored the second run in that first inning. Goins singled again in the second inning to drive in run number three. Matt Dominguez and Casey Kotchman drove in the fourth and fifth runs. Goins and Domonic Brown had two hits to lead the hitters. Goins is hitting .324 in Buffalo. Pompey was 1-3 with a walk.

Casey Lawrence went 5.1 innings to get the win. He was charged with the two runs on six hits. Danny Barnes got the last five outs with just one walk.

Pawtucket 1 Buffalo 2

Just as in game one, Buffalo scored in the first. Pompey singled and scored when Goins singled. That run held up until the fifth inning when Pawtucket pushed across the tying run. To get the lead back Andy Burns led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk. He promptly stole second and third and scored on a two out sac fly by Jio Mier. Both teams had only four hits as pitching dominated.

Scott Copeland went six innings. He allowed three hits and two walks. He had just one K but did get ten ground balls. Dustin Antolin pitched the seventh and did let the tying run get to second but he found a way to get the last out for the save.

New Hampshire 6 Trenton 4

Christian Lopes and Richard Urena led the offense for the Fisher Cats. Lopes started the first inning with a single and scored when Urena doubled. Lopes and Urena both singled in the seventh and Lopes scored on a sac fly by Rowdy Tellez. In the eighth Lopes reached on an error and Urena again doubled him home. New Hampshire scored three runs in the fourth without those two. Emilio Guerrero drove in two runs and Roemen Fields brought Guerrero home with a single. Both Lopes and Urena were 3-5.

Shane Dawson had one of his better starts. He went 5.1 innings with eight base runners, four hits and four walks. Three relievers finished up. Wil Browning was the best, five K's in two innings.

Clearwater 2 Dunedin 9

Dunedin had 14 hits in this one. The game was somewhat close until the Jays knocked out five runs in the seventh inning. Ryan McBroom and Jorge Flores each had three hits. Anthony Alford was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. Matt Dean had a similar line as he comes back from injury. It was Dean's first home run for Dunedin and Alford's eighth.

Brad Allen made the spot start but had to be pulled before he could finish the fifth and get the win. Chris Rowley picked up the win by going 2.2 innings.

Lansing 4 West Michigan 2

This was a pitchers duel through five innings. Canadian Jordan Romano pitched a two hitter over six innings with five K's. He was followed by Canadian Tom Robson who pitched two shutout innings before running into trouble in the ninth. Canadian Andrew Case came on to get the save.

Lansing scored three in the sixth inning. John La Prise singled, Juan Kelly walked, Lane Thomas singled in a run and then Canadian Justin Atkinson singled in two more. Thomas homered in the eighth inning for the fourth run. Thomas has been hitting well since coming off the DL and he was hitting well in June before he went on the DL after a slow start.

Vancouver 6 Hillsboro 5

Vancouver scored two runs in the seventh to turn a one run deficit into a one run lead. The go ahead runs were not very exciting. Two walks were followed by an RBI single from Rodrigo Orozco. Another walk and a passed ball created the winning run. Once the Canadians took the lead Jackson McClelland went six up and six down through two innings and Griffin Glaude took care on the ninth with just a single allowed. Luis Sanchez had started and went five innings. Hillsboro scored three runs off Evan Smith in the sixth.

Three hitters had two hits for Vancouver. Jacob Anderson and Cavan Biggio went 2-5. JB Woodman was 2-3 with two walks.

Anyone have an update on the Harold Ramirez knee injury? It was thought to be minor with his missing a week or so but now after two weeks it seems longer than or so. Is it more serious than at first thought or are we looking at an imminent return? The AA season only has 3 weeks remaining.

Just looking at team stats and saw for leaders...
OPS
AAA: Ryan Goins (yes, him) 851 in 84 PA. Jesus Montero at 788 is best among those with 100+ PA (439 for him)
AA: Harold Ramirez 1.800 in 5 PA (yeah, who cares), Richard Urena 1.128 in 51 PA (still too few), Rowdy Tellez 896 in 419 PA (OK, now it means something)
A+: Jorge Saez 973 while catching 72 PA
A: Max Pentecost 864 in 267 PA, OK he has some hope.
A-: Joshua Palacios 893 in 86 PA
Rookie: Nash Knight 1.060 in 110 PA. (Vlad is at 839 in 206 PA)

There are also the DSL and lower level rookie team but I put both into 'meh' as those are so far away I only notice if we get insane numbers. Of course Lane Thomas at 1.266 is dang impressive even that low but just 21 PA so almost meaningless.

Jon Harris with another good game for Dunedin today. After a rough first game at that level, he's pitched 22 1/3 innings allowing only 12 hits and 4 walks, with an ERA of 1.61. Be nice to see a few more K's, but he looks primed for a good season in AA next year, when he'll be 23. Christian Lopes had his 7th multi-hit game in a row, with a HR. JB Woodman had 2 hits, with his 2nd HR in 5 games. After a slow start, he's been really good. Combined July/August, in 136 AB's he's hitting .331, with 17 doubles, 9 steals and a couple of HR's, with an OPS in the .950 range. Joshua Palacios had 3 hits to bump his average to .342 since moving up to Vancouver. Nash Knight was 4 for 5 and is now hitting .372 combined Van/Bluefield.
