Roberto Hernandez hoped to win a job with the Jays in spring training. That didn't happen so he left to find a major league job elsewhere. That job did not materialize so he came back to the Jays to pitch in Buffalo. He advertised his availability on Sunday with an excellent performance. He was helped by a two run tie-breaking double by Dalton Pompey. That was the only win for the affiliates. New Hampshire had only one hit. Dunedin kept it close until the seventh when a grand slam like triple put them in a deep hole. Lansing took mothers day off.

Syracuse 2 Buffalo 4

Dalton Pompey doubled off the left field wall in the fourth inning to drive in two runs and break a 2-2 tie. That stood up from the fourth inning to the end of the game. Pompey had two hits. Domonic Brown started the scoring for the Bisons with a solo home run. Jio Mier had two hits and drove in the second run.

Roberto Hernandez started and pitched into the sixth inning. He was charged with two runs, both unearned. More impressively he didn't issue a walk and had six K's. Colt Hynes, Ben Rowen and Dustin Antolin pitched 3.1 innings of relief with just one hit allowed. The relievers did not issue a walk too, making it an unusual game where the Bisons did not issue a walk.

Buffalo won 2-1 on Saturday behind seven shutout innings from Wade LeBlanc. Matt Dominguez hit a home run. The Bisons lost on Friday, they had just two hits. Scott Diamond was a hard luck loser.

New Hampshire 0 Hartford 10

It has been a tough start to the year for the Fisher Cats and this loss was one of the worst. Their record is now 11-17. Not only was this a 10-0 loss but New Hampshire had only one hit. New Hampshire had to wait until the eighth inning before Wilkin Castillo singled to right.

Casey Lawrence accounted for six of the runs. Daniel Schlereth and Bo Schultz gave up two runs each.

On Saturday New Hampshire scored four runs over the last two innings to eke out a 7-6 win. Roemen Fields had four hits including two RBI in the eighth inning. John Anderson was hit around. Similarly on Friday New Hampshire broke a tie with two runs in the ninth. Dwight Smith drove in both runs. Shane Dawson came off the DL to pitch five innings.

Daytona 6 Dunedin 3

Kyle Westwood has had a tough start to 2016 but on Sunday he was pitching well. The game was tied at two and Westwood came out for the seventh. A single and a walk later he was pulled for Matt Dermody. A bunt single loaded the bases. A triple cleared the bases and a throwing error made it a grand slam equivalent. Now Westwood had another loss and is 0-4. Maybe the manager should have brought in Adonys Cardona who pitched an inning to keep his ERA at zero.

DJ Davis hit a solo home run to get the Jays on the board. Derrick Lovless had three hits, two doubles. He scored the second run when Jason Leblebijian doubled him in. Richard Urena doubled and scored the third and final run when Ryan McBroom singled.

Dunedin lost 8-2 on Saturday. Ryan Borucki has had a tough start to 2016 and Saturday continued the misery. He was charged with seven runs and now has a 14.40 ERA. Leblebijian and Dickie Thon had two hits. Dunedin won 2-0 on Friday, Brad Allen and two relievers pitched a three hit shutout.

Lansing - scheduled day off

Angel Perdomo couldn't get out of the first inning on Saturday and Lansing were unable to dig out of a 4-0 hole. Dan Lietz pitched well in relief. Ryan Hissey had two hits.

Francisco Rios dominated on Friday, a one hitter with ten K's over 5.2 innings. Josh DeGraaf and Colton Turner finished up. After the game Turner was promoted to Dunedin.

Nice to see Pompey amongst the three stars, I much prefer the thought of him on the bench to Michael Bourne - assuming Zeke Carrera returns to being Zeke Carrera sooner or later.

Lots of options for that 7th / 8th spot in the pen - guys like Girodo and Tepera are going to have to pitch well in their chances to stick around. Biagini seems well on his way to locking down his spot. Danny Barnes and John Stilson look ready for AAA. Bo Schultz is back from injury.

Any word on Franklin Morales? Anyone know what's up with Blake McFarland? I've been thinking of him as a sleeper option for the big league pen.

The year has had a rough start for prospects too.  Among the four position player prospects I have been watching carefully- Pompey, Tellez, Alford and Urena- only Urena has held his own.  Urena has his K rate down at 13%.  He has some speed, some pop, and plays good defence at shortstop.  He is 20 years old in the FSL, so this too is good.

Francisco Rios has been promoted from Lansing to Dunedin.   That's a quick promotion, although he certainly seemed too good for the Low A league.  He will be one to watch closely.

The Rios promotion seems unconfirmed.   I'm waiting to see if this is just a rumor, or whether it's true.  One prospect-watcher tweeted the news quite authoritatively, only for another to cast doubt on it.

It's been an unusually good night on the farm so far. Arnold Leon had an excellent start for the Herd, throwing 5 innings of 1 hit ball with 1 walk and 7 Ks.  Sean Reid-Foley is scoreless through 3 innings, with 4 walks and 4 Ks.  New Hampshire won, and the other affiliates lead.
