The Vancouver Canadians and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to extend their Player Development Contract for two more seasons.

The Vancouver Canadians flag will continue to fly under the Toronto Blue Jays banner for 2016, 2017 and 2018.

I am glad to see the Vancouver-Toronto affiliation will continue but I was hoping for a four-year extension. Either the Shapiro administration wants to see just how good the partnership is for themselves or does Vancouver ownership still harbor hopes of seeing Triple-A baseball returning to the Lower Mainland?

I also wonder about the future of the Jays' partnership with Buffalo. Even though the Bisons have had two winning seasons out of three with the Jays, could a losing season in 2016 lead Buffalo to look elsewhere for a new dance partner? Keep in mind they dropped the New York Mets at the end of the 2012 season after just one winning season out of four. Another thing that does not help is the lower loonie, which is fighting to stay above 70 cents, and that could lead to a drop in attendance from those who cross the border to watch the Herd.

As it stands, the C's join the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the Blue Jays fold until the end of the 2018 season. The Bisons, the Lansing Lugnuts and the Bluefield Blue Jays will see their current PDC's expire at the conclusion of the 2016 campaign.

Thank Brumfield for info. This news brings attention to baseball in Canada -- Vancouver, Winnipeg, cities in Ontario and Quebec hosts professional baseball teams. How about Alberta and Sask. ? Location is the issue.

An update to which teams some Canadian professional baseball players are heading to in 2016.

P.S.
The Giantses also signed Canadians: The San Francisco signed C Kottaras to minor league contract and invited him to spring training

The Yomiuri re-signed for 2016 RP Scott Mathieson who is then playing his fifth season with Yomiuri.

Richard S. S. holds two lists of recently acquired pitchers
http://www.battersbox.ca/comment.php?mode=view&cid=318377
http://www.battersbox.ca/comment.php?mode=view&cid=318511

Complementary to them, few more pitchers:
RHP Murphy Smith, 6'3"210, 08/25/87, (28)
RHP Chris Smith, 6'3"180, 08/18/88, (27)
LHP Colt Hynes (AAA), 5'11"200, 06/28/85, (30)

The Baseball America's minor league free agents 2015 of Toronto Blue Jays show a list; after removing signed players:
RHP:
Dustin Antolin (AA), Austin Bibens-Dirkx (AA), Derek Blacksher (Hi A), Cory Burns (AA), Mike Lee (AA)
LHP: Andrew Albers (AAA), Luis Perez (AA)

Lee, Bibens-Dirkx, Blacksher, Burns, Albers, Hynes, Perez are around the age of 27-30; they were 2015 season's group of "Anderson, Schlereth and Doran".  Expecting no much help from the 2016 group is more prudent.

How about a list of batters with similar contents? Maybe the fact that pitchers report to camp earlier demands less attention to batters than pitchers.

Luis Perez has signed on in Japan.

For memories, Esmil Rogers, Jim Adduci and Eric Thames are playing in South Korea.
