Buffalo 3 ROCHESTER 4
Jonathan Diaz homered and both Munenori Kawasaki and Alex Hassan collected two hits as their efforts feel a hair short in a three-two loss to the Twins AAA affiliate. Starter Scott Copeland was decidedly average. He pitched six and a third of four-run ball. He struck out one and walked one. Probably not the next call to Buffalo.
Trenton 1 NEW HAMPSHIRE 2
Taylor Cole was very good tonight. He followed his complete game shutout last time out with eight innings of one-run baseball. He struck out five and walked two, allowing five hits. Be nice to see him pitch in the Majors at one point. Jon Berti’s two run single in the fifth was all Cole needed. Berti collected two hits while Dalton Pompey had a hit and a stolen base.
Dunedin 1 DAYTONA 5
O’fer-seven with runners in scoring position doesn’t help. Despite several multi-hit games and a few extra-base hits Dunedin could not push them across with any frequency. Anthony Alford doubled and stole a base. He’s hitting .356. Matt Dean and Mitch Nay both had two hits. On the mound, Conner Greene was solid over five innings. He allowed one run on five hits and three walks. He struck out three.
Is it me, or does there seem to be a lack of strikeout (stuff) in our organization?
LANSING 6 Great Lakes 5 15 Innings
Juan Kelly homered in the fifteenth to break the deadlock and send Lansing to victory. The homerun, I gather, was Mr. Kelly’s first hit at the level. D.J. Davis had a nice game. He had three hits, a walk, and stole two bases. Shocking that a guy with his speed tool has only stolen twelve bases this year. Chris Carlson was excellent hitting leadoff. He had three hits and three walks. Starter Jesus Tinoco allowed two runs in six innings of work. He struck out six and walked a batter. Tim Mayza put in some work as well. He pitched four shutout innings. Jose Fernandez followed with three of his own. Some pretty solid bullpen work.
SALEM-KEIZER 9 Vancouver 3
Vancouver isn’t very good this year. Lane Thomas and Justin Atkinson both had two hits. Pitching was not very good. End stop.
Bluefield 6 DANVILLE 7
Jacob “Wild Thing” Brentz allowed five earned in two and a third. He only walked two. Christian Williams and Gabriel Clark did the damage for Bluefield. Williams had two hits and three RBIs, while Clark homered to collect the three other RBIs.
GCL Pirates 3 GCL BLUE JAYS 4
Reggie Pruitt had two hits, as did Jake Thomas. Luis Sanchez struck out seven in six and two-thirds. Sanchez allowed two earned.
DSL D-BACKS 6 DSL Blue Jays 5
