Gwinnett 4 Buffalo 1 (13 Innings)
Buffalo, NY - The Bisons scored the first run of the game in the seventh inning but gave up the tying run in the ninth and wen on to lose in extras. Randy Wolf went seven innings and gave up just five hits while striking out five. He was in line for the win when Brad Glenn grounded into a double play that brought home a Matt Hague double in the seventh. Greg Burke struck out one in a shutout eighth but Blake McFarland blew the save by serving up a game-tying home run in the ninth. He pitched two innings and struck out three. Rob Rasmussen also delivered two scoreless frames with one hit allowed. Gregory Infante (1-1) gave up the winning runs by allowing two hits and three walks in one-third of an inning. Andrew Albers could only strand one of Infante's three runners by allowing a hit before getting the final two outs.
Munenori Kawasaki was the only Bison with two hits and added a stolen base. Josh Thole reached twice with a single and a walk while Andy Burns had a hit and a hit by pitch. Steve Tolleson, Caleb Gindl and Daric Barton had the other base hits. Glenn and Melky Mesa were both 0-for-5 while Jonathan Diaz finished 0-for-4.
New Hampshire 7 Portland 4
Portland, ME - A grand slam by K.C. Hobson got the Fisher Cats on the board in the third inning and gave them a lead they would never relinquish. Sacrifice flies by Dalton Pompey and Kevin Nolan in the fifth and sixth and a Jorge Flores RBI double in the eighth provided the margin of victory over the Red Sox affiliate. Hobson, Pompey, Flores and Dwight Smith Jr. all had two-hit games with Pompey drawing a walk and Smith throwing out a runner at second base from left field. Ian Parmley singled and walked twice and Jon Berti walked three times and stole a base. Ryan Schimpf had a hit and a base on balls. Nolan and Pierce Rankin were hitless in their four at-bats.
Joel Piniero (4-2, 3.77) pitched seven innings and was charged with four runs on six hits, a walk and a hit by pitch on a rehabbing Shane Victorinio. He only struck out two but recorded 12 outs on the ground. Cory Burns pitched a clean eighth and Dustin Antolin struck out one in a shutout ninth for the save.
Fort Myers 2 Dunedin 1
Dunedin, FL - Four errors proved to be Dunedin's undoing in this one. The Twins affiliate scored a pair of unearned runs against Murphy Smith (5-4, 3.05) in 5-2/3 innings. Two errors were committed by Jorge Saez and another one by center field Anthony Alford. Smith scattered six hits, a walk and a plunk and struck out seven for a Game Score of 59. Brad Allen stranded a runner to end the sixth and pitched 2-1/3 innings of scoreless ball on one hit and one walk while whiffing three. Brady Dragmire delivered a scoreless ninth.
Dunedin did not get their run until the eighth when J.D. Davis drew a bases-loaded walk. However, Mitch Nay would strike out with the bases loaded. Alford walked with two outs in the ninth but did not advance any further. Alford had two hits to go with his free pass. Rowdy Tellez had a hit, two walks and a stolen base. Matt Dean collected a double and a walk while Davis had a single to go with his walk. Dickie Joe Thon and Dawel Lugo also made an entry into the hit column. Saez had a walk but Derrick Loveless was hitless in three at-bats while Nay went 0-for-4.

South Bend, IN - The Lugnuts grabbed a 2-0 first inning lead and held on to beat the Cubs. Ryan McBroom lifted a sac fly for the first run and D.J. Davis followed with an RBI single. Chris Carlson added another run in the second with a base hit. David Harris slugged his first homer of the season with a solo shot in the fourth and threw out a runner at third base from left field. Boomer Collins drove in what provied to be the winning marging with a run-scoring base hit. Carlson and Tim Locastro had two hits apiece at the top of the order with Carlson adding two walks and Locastro stealing his 30th base of the year. Alexis Maldonado also had a base hit. Collins and Jason Leblebijian heard ball four once.
Sean Reid-Foley (3-3, 3.48) surrendered seven hits and two walks but only one run crossed the plate in his five-inning performance. He struck out six and five of his eight outs in play stayed in the infield. Tim Mayza was roughed up for three runs on three hits and a walk over two-plus innings. Two of those runs came in on Dusty Isaacs' watch as he surrendered four hits in his inning of work. Jose Fernandez struck out a batter and pitched a clean ninth for his seventh save.
Hillsboro 3 Vancouver 2 (11 Innings)
Gunnar Heidt had two hits, a walk, a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base in his return to Vancouver.
Vancouver, BC - Tony Fernandez was at The Nat and celebrated his birthday Tuesday but the C's could not gift him with a win. Vancouver scored twice in the sixth inning on a Juan Tejada sac fly and a J.C. Cardenas RBI double that he could not convert into a triple. Cardenas sharpened his batting eye with four walks on the night. Austin Davis had three hits and a walk while Gunnar Heidt - in his first game back in Vancouver - and Sean Hurley had a pair of hits and a walk. Hurley took one for the team as did Juan Kelly, who also worked a pair of walks. Lane Thomas was 1-for-5 with with a walk. Heidt was 1-for-2 stealing bases and Hurley snared one as well. Kevin Garcia, Gabriel Cenas was 0-for-4 and James Lynch went 0-for-2. Earl Burl III was hitless in his lone at-bat.
Francisco Rios pitched into the sixth inning in his Nat Bailey Stadium debut.
Francisco Rios pitched 5-1/3 innings and gave up two runs on five hits and a walk but struck out five before turning the ball over to Sean Ratcliffe, who got the final two outs of the sixth to strand a runner. Jackson McClelland walked two but put up a pair of zeros. Michael Kraft (0-1) put up another couple of scoreless frames but left two on for Andrew Case. He allowed a high-bouncing infield single to third to score the winning run in finishing off the 11th. Kraft yielded two hits and two walks but struck out three.
Burlington 5 Bluefield 4
Burlington, WV - The Jays held an early 4-2 lead but could hang on against the Royals. Bluefield bunched up their runs in the second, third and fourth innings on an Andrew Guillotte RBI single, back-to-back doubles by Carl Wise and Edwin Fuentes and a two-run double by Rodrigo Orozco. Wise and Fuentes supplied half of Bluefield's hits with two each. Orozco reached twice with a walk as did Mattingly Romanin and Josh Reavis both singled and walked. Deiferson Barreto, Nick Sinay and Dean Bell all worked the count to ball four and Sinay was also plunked. Barreto was replaced by Romanin after being thrown out at home in the first inning. Yeltsin Gudino was hitless in two at-bats and Aaron Attaway was 0-for-1.
Dalton Rodriguez was dinged for four runs (three earned) on eight hits, a walk and a hit by pitch over five innings. The unearned marker was due to a Wise throwing error at third. Eight of Rodriguez's 10 outs in play were on the grass. Zak Wasilewski (0-1) was zapped for the winning run on two hits in two innings. Tyler Burden struck out two and was nicked for only a hit in the eighth.
GCL Blue Jays 6 GCL Tigers 0
Lakeland, FL - Not a run was scored in first five innings. That all changed in the sixth inning when the Jays scored three times before rinsing and repeating in the ninth. Levi Scott drove in the first run with a single and Jesus Severino also had an RBI base hit to sandwich a run-scoring wild pitch in the sixth. Javier Hernandez took one for the team with the bases loaded in the ninth before Bryan Lizardo singled home two more runs to put the game away. Lizardo went 3-for-4 with a walk and Edward Olivares got on base four times with two hits and two walks. Olivares was busy on the basepaths by stealing not one, not two but three stolen bases. Severino had a pair of hits while Jake Thomas walked twice. Kalik May walked and stole a base. Cliff Brantley and Juandry Mendoza also drew free passes. The Jays earned eight walks but also whiffed 13 times.
Denis Diaz (1-0, 0.00) tamed the Tigers on four hits, a walk and a hit by pitch over five shutout innings. He struck out three to total up a Game Score of 61. Kelyn Jose walked a batter and plunked a couple of others but still managed to put up a zero in the sixth. Griffin Glaude got two strikeouts over two perfect frames and Ryan Cook finished roasting the Tigers with an incident-free ninth.

San Pedro de Macoris, DR - The only runs in the game came in the eighth inning in the form of two home runs off Tommy Henriquez (0-1). He pitched 2-2/3 innings and allowed four hits and a walk but struck out four. Jose Nova pitched the first 4-1/3 innings and shutout the Friars on a hit and three walks while whiffing three. Wilmin Lara struck out one in a spotless ninth.
The Jays had six hits and seven walks but were unable to get any of them to cross home plate. Kevin Vicuna, Sterling Guzman, Norberto Obeso, Enmanuel Moreta, Antony Fuentes and Jesus Navarro all had singles with Obeso, Moreta and Navarro also drawing walks. Sam Buelens had two bases on balls while Yorman Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez had one each.
