Does a team deserve to win when it gets just two hits? It does when the other team makes five errors.

Austin Davis
bears down on Hillsboro second baseman Fernery Ozuna, who cannot handle an errant throw from third base on a ground ball from Christian Vazquez. Davis advanced to third but was stranded to end the second inning.

A headfirst slide by Earl Burl III produces the first run for Vancouver in the third inning in front of catcher Alexis Olmedo. EB3 was hit by a pitch, stole second and went to third on a J.C. Cardenas fly ball before scoring on a Lane Thomas base hit. Thomas, who stole second, would later score on an error at third to give Vancouver a 2-0 advantage.

Canadians starter Clinton Hollon was engaged in a pitcher's duel with Hops starter Tyler Bolton. Hollon allowed just two hits and two walks over six innings but was victimized by a two-run home run in the fifth by Stephen Dezzi which bounced off the top of the right field wall to tie the game at 2-2. Bolton scattered a hit, a walk and a HBP over six frames but had to deal with less-than-stellar defence.

Ryan Metzler - who entered the game as a defensive replacement at third basem for Christian Vazquez in the top of the fifth - took one for the team to start the seventh inning and was credited with a stolen base here by swiping second. Hillsboro manager Shelley Duncan vehemently disagreed but the call stood.

Earl Burl III pulls a single to left with the bases loaded.

Ryan Metzler does a two-step to score the tie-breaking run.

Metzler is followed by Kevin Garcia, who scores to make it 4-2 Vancouver.

Juan Tejada, whose sacrifice bunt was mishandled by the Hops defence, follows Garcia to give the C's a three-run lead. Earl Burl III would also score on a wild pitch to make it 6-2.

Lefty Travis Bergen relieved Clinton Hollon in the seventh and pitched 2-1/3 innings of shutout ball, surrendering just two hits and striking out the side in the eighth. He induced three ground ball outs before leaving the game due to an apparent injury. The trainer was checking Bergen's elbow.

Andrew Case needed just one pitch to end the game as he induced a 3-6 double play. He gets congratulations from catcher Kevin Garcia as the C's win their third straight, 6-2 over Hillsboro.

Clinton Hollon topped out at 92 miles per hour and had pitches in the 77 and 84 MPH range. Travis Bergen threw anywhere from 87-92 MPH. Only Burl reached safely twice with a hit and a walk while Kevin Garcia drew the other free pass.
