Such days it's tough to find something to headline, not on Sunday. First all the affiliates won. Bluefield were without a base runner through eight innings but scored seven runs in the ninth and won in the tenth. Vancouver had just two hits but scored six runs for the win. DJ Davis doubled in two runs in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie. Rowdy Tellez had his third straight home run game on Sunday and had a total of four RBI's on three hits. Casey Lawrence and Feliex Doubront were strong for the top two teams.

Buffalo 3 Scranton 2

A three run third inning was the difference. Matt Hague singled in Caleb Gindl and Andy Burns. Daric Barton then doubled in Hague. Barton went 2-4 and Sean Ochinko 3-4 although he did not figure in any scoring.

Feliex Doubront had a strong start, seven shutout innings, four hits, four walks, five K's. Blake McFarland made his AAA debut and pitched a 1-2-3 eighth. But the first two hitters he faced in the ninth singled. Gregory Infante came on and also gave up a couple of singles, but then buckled down for the save.

The Bisons were rained out on Saturday. Jeff Francis was outstanding on Friday, he pitched seven shutout innings with just four hits to lead Buffalo to the win.

New Hampshire 5 Trenton 2

Dalton Pompey helped the Cats get going in the first inning as he singled to lead off the game. A couple of walks and a sac fly made it 1-0. Pompey singled again with two outs in the fifth. Roemen Fields also singled to move Pompey to third and Pompey scored on a wild pitch. on Berti walked and KC Hobson doubled in two runs. Dwight Smith Jr. tripled and scored in the sixth to make it 6-0. Hobson was 3-3, Pompey and Kevin Nolan had two hits each.

Casey Lawrence pitched seven strong innings, he gave up one run on four hits. Chad Girodo got the five out save.

New Hampshire were rained out on Saturday. On Friday they won 3-0, Ryan Schimpf hit a three run home run, Dalton Pompey had two hits and Austin Bibens-Dirkx had a good start.

Fort Myers 2 Dunedin 7

Anthony Alford tripled to lead off the game but was stranded. Rowdy Tellez didn't get him in in the first inning but Tellez singled in two runs in the third, singled in another in the sixth and homered in the eighth. Christian Lopes also had three hits, Mitch Nay was 2-4 with a walk and Emilio Guerrero 2-4.

Luis Santos pitched 4.1 innings but Alberto Tirado went 1.2 for the win. Matt Dermody closed out with 3 innings.

Dunedin won on Saturday, Rowdy Tellez had two hits including a home run while Jeff Hoffman had six K's over five shutout innings. Dunedin lost on Friday despite Anthony Alford and Rowdy Tellez each having two hits and a home run. Mitch Nay also had two hits. Jairo Labourt took the loss and Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning in relief.

West Michigan 5 Lansing 7

Tied game, eighth inning, bases loaded, two outs, DJ Davis up to bat. Davis doubled in two runs for the win. It was Davis' second hit of the day. Jason Leblebijian and Alexis Maldonado also had two hits.

Jesus Tinoco went four innings with just one hit allowed but when he warmed up for the fifth he called out the trainers and left. Mark Biggs and Justin Shafer let Michigan back in the game before Carlos Ramirez and Tim Mayza locked it down.

On Saturday Shane Dawson struck out nine in 7.2 innings while Ryan McBroom had three hits. Lansing lost on Friday with DJ Davis being a home run short of the cycle.

Hillsboro 2 Vancouver 6

Vancouver scored six runs on two hits. Hit by pitch and errors helped. The first two runs came though a hit batter, a single from Lane Thomas, and an error. With the game tied at 2 in the seventh another hit batter was followed by a walk and a sacrifice that reached and loaded the bases. Earl Burl had the second and last Vancouver single which combined with an error scored three. A wild pitch completed the scoring.

Clinton Hollon went six innings with a good line of 6 2 2 2 2 4. Travis Bergen went 2.1 innings for the win.

On Saturday JC Cardenas delivered a walk off single in the bottom of the ninth for a win. Lane Thomas hit a home run and Conor Fisk pitched five shutout innings for the win. Jon Harris made his debut on Friday and just pitched good 2.2 innings. Sean Hurley and Earl Burl led the offense to the win.

Bluefield 8 Kingsport 7 - 10 innings

It was 24 up, 24 down for Bluefield and down 4-0 it looked like the only thing left was to avoid the perfect game. Mattingly Romanin singled to lead off the inning, DJ McKnight was hit by a pitch and Matt Morgan singled to load the bases. Then the top of the order went to work, Yeltsin Gudino singled, Rodrigo Orozco doubled and Christian Williams doubled to give Bluefield the lead. Kingsport scored three runs in the ninth to tie with the tying run coming on a passed ball. In the tenth Carl Wise singled in the winning run with two outs.

Nick Wells pitched 3.1 innings and was charged with three runs, Miguel Burgos went 3.2 innings and gave up an unearned run.

Bluefield gave up four runs in the bottom of the ninth to lose. Juliandry Higuera pitched five shutout innings. On Friday Bluefield had 8 hits, 13 walks and 15 runs as they took advantage of Kingsport being short of pitchers. Angel Perdomo went five innings.

The big team and ALL the farm teams won. I am celebrating with a beer.

We definitely got lucky.

Rowdy Tellez with a pretty solid A+ start.

I'm going to go ahead and credit myself with the win in Lansing yesterday. The Luggies have lost every game that I have attended this season. Yesterday I had to leave a little early and left in the top of the 8th. Look what happened in the bottom end of that frame.

Lugnut Fan (or anyone else who may know), any idea what's up with Danny Jansen? Been a month today since he was injured.

I have no idea about the Jansen injury Hyperbole.

One interesting thing to note about Locastro, he was hit for the 21st time this season yesterday which sets a Lansing franchise record. Keep in mind that there is still roughly 1/2 a season to go so I'm sure he will shatter that.

I'm curious as to how that number will change as he rises in levels. Locastro stands ridiculously close to plate where quite honestly I think he could be hit with a pitch that is actually a strike. He feet are on the inside white line of the box and his elbow hangs over the inside corner. Pitchers try to work the inside of the plate on him to get him to move his feet and at this level he gets hit. When he gets to a level where they can control that pitch, I'm curious as to whether or not he makes an adjustment.

Tellez' slash line is, in fact, .309/.362/.479, not as above.

Thanks, Lugnut Fan.

I actually saw Locastro get hit this year,(the game Alford hit his first HR).

Inside curveball. Locastro just twisted his torso so his back was facing the pitch, but didn't seem to move his feet. The ball hit his lower leg.

Dean and Nay look to have been supplanted by Tellez as the future 1b.  fun having an old school hitting prospect to follow in the system.

Ryan McBroom was a 15th round pick last year and at 23, not young for Lansing, but he's done nothing but hit with some legit power and a great batting eye.  Lugnut Fan or anyone else have a sense of whether or not he can continue
 this at a higher level?

apropos of nothing, lefty Travis Bergen, this year's 7th rounder, has struck out 11 in his first two appearances this year, covering 5 and 1/3 IPs.

uglyone - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 10:34 AM EDT (#303974) #
tbh, imo tellez had already supplanted them last year.

tellez has a long way to go but at least he's a legit prospect.

the really exciting thing about tellez is that his best asset - raw power - has barely started to show yet, and he's still managed to put up very solid batting lines.

I saw McBroom in Vancouver last year. On the plus side he has a very nice all field approach to hitting and makes consistent hard contact. His problem is that his offence is very BA heavy for his position. Not a lot of power and he doesn't walk a ton (although he has walked a bit more this year). He's a 1B only defensively. I think he will continue to hit for a good average as he continues but I think the Jays' slow approach to promotions tells you what they think of him.
Lylemcr - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 11:37 AM EDT (#303978) #
Sounds like if you goto a game you are more likely to see Locasto get hit by a pitch than not.

Don Baylor like... :)
whiterasta80 - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 01:21 PM EDT (#303980) #
Tellez has really surprised me with his contact and on base skills. The Raw power was there from high school but you never have any idea if the contact will translate to better opposition and I think its a good sign that it has.

It looks like the raw power is starting to show this season but even before it did Billy Butler looked like a good comparable for his skill set and body type. I'll be decidedly more optimistic on his ceiling if he continues this progression.
Mike Green - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 01:28 PM EDT (#303981) #
By all accounts, Tellez is a better defender than Butler was.  He should be at least an adequate defender at first base by the time he arrives in Toronto in June, 2017 (June 13 exactly and approximately!).
uglyone - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 01:30 PM EDT (#303982) #
on a unique note, Alford is posting the identical awesome 143wrc+ in A+ as he did in A, but whereas he needed a babip well over .400 to do that in A, his babip is barely over .200 in A+.

which means, of course, that his power is starting to show up too.
1990Jays - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 01:31 PM EDT (#303983) #
1B/DH only guys fizzle out at an extraordinary rate, the Jays would be lucky if Tellez turns out to be Billy Butler, that would mean he beat the odds. The hitting threshold for those guys is very high, there's hope for Tellez so far and the numbers have to keep getting better.
Chuck - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 02:56 PM EDT (#303988) #
I actually saw Locastro get hit this year

Saying that is not much different than saying you were at a game this year and saw Bautista get a single. Bautista is singling in 9% of PAs. For his career, Locastro gets hit by a pitch in 8% of his PAs.

hypobole - Monday, June 29 2015 @ 04:02 PM EDT (#303993) #
Yeah Chuck, plus there's a bit more excitement on a Bautista single. Even though I've seen a couple of hundred, he still gets an "allright!!"(or a reasonable facsimile) each time.

The best I could do for Locasatro's HBP was "hmmmm....".
