BUFFALO 11 Lehigh Valley 1
The Bisons amassed eighteen hits on the night. Chris Colabello added to his four hit night on Wednesday with two more on Thursday, including a homerun. Slugging Munenori Kawasaki doubled twice as part of a three hit night. Ezequiel Carrera had four hits at the top of the order. On the mound, Chad Jenkins pitched five scoreless.
Binghamton 4 NEW HAMPSHIRE 5 (10 Innings)
Pinch hitter Shane Opitz singled home the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. I gather the Fisher Cats are making a habit of such late game heroics—this being the fourth time the AA squad has won with their last at-bat in eight games at home this season. Dwight Smith Jr. started the rally with a two-out double, bringing his hit streak to eleven games. Melky Mesa singled Smith Jr. home and advanced to second on the play. Opitz then played hero with a single.
BREVARD COUNTY 10 Dunedin 6
Jairo Labourt got hit around in his four innings. Five walks probably didn’t help. Labourt allowed four earned on three hits and two strikeouts. The Lansing graduates have yet to take off. Lugo, Nay, and Dean combined for two hits. The bottom of the order provided the bulk of offence. David Harris had three hits, Mike Reeves two, and Christian Lopes two. Michael Saunders had a single at the top of the order as he eyes up his Blue Jays’ debut.
Fort Wayne 2 LANSING 3
Lansing came out on top in chilly night in Michigan. Primary starter Conner Greene pitched five innings of one-run baseball. Subsidiary starter Alonzo Gonzalez pitched the back four, yielding one run. Richard Uerna had three hits and Danny (since when was he Danny?) Jansen had three walks. Jansen stole two bases as well. D.J. Davis is showing some signs of life—he tripled and stole a base.
