New Hampshire and Alttona played scoreless ball until the twelfth. With Andy Burns on second Altoona walked Matt Newman to face little Jorge Flores. Flores used his 5' 5" frame to single in the winning run. Radhames Liz, working his way back from injury, pitched well again. Jeremy Gabryszwski also pitched well to lead Lansing to victory. Buffalo were forced to call on Esmil Rogers to start and he pitched well for a while until he ran out of gas. The Bisons were unable to come back and took the loss. Dunedin were rained out.

Syracuse 5 Buffalo 4

Marcus Stroman was due to start but that was changed shortly before the game. Esmil Rogers got the emergency start and cruised through three innings. But in the fourth, after recording the first out, he walked a hitter then gave up three straight hits leading to two runs. Shawn Hill came on in relief and made things worse by letting three more score. An error by Ryan Goins didn't help. Raul Valdes pitched three perfect innings.

The Bisons didn't have much luck against former Jay Josh Roenicke but they scored three runs off another former Jay, Zack Jackson, in the seventh. With the bases loaded on a single, a walk and an error, Darin Mastroianni doubled in two, the third scored on a wild pitch. Buffalo loaded the bases again with no one out in the ninth trailing 5-3. But they could only bring home one run and left the tying run at third. Buffalo outhit the Chiefs 6-4, Mastroianni was the only hitter with two hits.

New Hampshire 1 Altoona 0 - 12 innings

Pitching was forefront in this game, Radhames Liz went 5.1 innings, had eight K's and only gave up two hits. Scott Copeland, Arik Sikula, Tyler Ybarra and Dustin Antolin added to the shutout innings.

In the twelfth inning Andy Burns led off with a single, his second on the night, and moved to second on a passed ball. Altoona chose to intentionally walk Matt Newman, who also had a couple of hits, to face the number nine hitter, newly promoted Jorge Flores. Flores made them pay with an RBI single. Randy Boone pitched the twelfth for the save.

The run in the fourth came without a hit and was unearned. The Lugnuts were outhit 10-7. Seven hitters each had a single for Lansing.

Jeremy Gabryszwski pitched six innings and only allowed an unearned run. He gave up six hits and had six K's, high for him. Griffin Murphy struck out the side for the save.

Liz has 6 pitches and throws 99 mph, so if he can find the strike zone, he probably should be up.

Liz only threw 73 pitches too. Likely on a pitch count of 75.

How does Korean Baseball rate? Is it like Japanese Baseball, or AAA or something else?

latest BA mock is out today....Has Jays taking Turner and Hoffman in first round.  Could we see a more even distribution of HS and College players among the Jays selections this year? I think so......I expect AA and staff to be a touch more conservative.

LIz had 88 walks in 202 innings in Korean baseball last year.  That's really the thing to watch in relation to his high minor league performance.  I am pretty sure that he'll K more than 9/9IP, but whether he can get his W rate to about 3 will likely determine his use (or not)  to the big league club.  Early returns are good.

huh, I'm actually surprised. I still don't think mcguire is a prospect again but if he can keep doing that then maybe just maybe he is.

Not a bad year so far for our 25 and younger SP.

Freddy Rodriguez (of - Ven) is the only bigger ticket from 2013/14 signings on here so I am thinking that others such as Yeltsin Gudino(ss) , Jesus Ramirez (ss) and Hansel Rodriguez (rhp) are likely in extended and heading to the Gulf Coast. though at 17 Hansel may be too young and is stashed somewhere else.
