Anyone have any idea why Casey is not in NH?  He has put up decent numbers 2 years in a row at Dunedin,.

Lawrence has put up decent numbers in Dunedin but has been hit around in four games above Dunedin over the last two seasons. The one number that gives you concern about promoting Lawrence is his K rate. This season he has 37 K's in 60 innings. That's about 5.5 K/9. In AA that number is likely to go down.

The starters in AA today are Deck McGuire, Marcus Stroman, Sean Nolin, Ryan Tepera and Marcus Walden. I believe Lawrence ranks behind those guys in ultimate potential.

Having said all that, if there were an injury in AA, it would be a 3 way battle between Lawrence, Bibens-Dirkx and Copeland to get the promotion.

I've always had a soft spot for Crouse. So many tools on that kid, plus patience at the plate to go with those tools.

Nice to see him off to a hot start this year (.877ops), even though his K-rate (31.0%) still indicates a guy who's not gonna make it.

On Twitter last night, someone asked Keith Law if Andy Burns was a prospect or suspect...he said prospect.

Single, groundout, homer (Wil Myers), single, double, single, sac fly, walk, walk, walk. They have to start over sometime soon, right?

I really think the Jays blew it with Romero. He should have been slowly rebuilding his mechanics and confidence with a stepwise approach in the minors. His promotion to the majors obviously looks incredibly short-sighted. To go from extended to Dunedin (one start) to the majors (two starts) to AAA, all the while trying to change his mechanics and (quite likely) battling Steve Blass disease, is a strange progression.

One problem with AAA is that it's just a hop away from the majors, perhaps creating extra pressure to perform and turn things around pronto.

I don't know whether more could have been done last year to address his issues. He was apparently battling injuries, but I seem to recall that he didn't mention this to anyone until toward the end of the season.

I don't know if Romero's fixable anymore.  This is like Dontrelle Willis.

It's shocking how fast he went from fairly good/getting even better in the majors to just....unable to throw a strike or get through an inning in professional baseball.

I believe in Ricky Romero. I believe he can find himself again, 100 percent absolutely. Will he? Um...

It still boggles my mind why they thought calling him up after one start in Dunedin was a good idea. Now he's tasted the big leagues again and he must be putting so much pressure on himself to get back there, instead of enjoying the kind of buffer-zone he would've had with a longer Dunedin stay. The big club desperately needs a starting pitcher or two right now and he thinks "I could be that guy, I need to be that guy. But I have to pitch well, I have to pitch perfectly..."

We're wondering if he'll ever be a major league pitcher again. What's scary is you know he must be wondering the same thing at this point.

Just remember, going thru levels takes time and the ability to adjust on your own. Not just throwing, but pitching. So, hopefully the pitchers in AA have the ability to just not throw, but manage their way thru the level. Having a good smart knowledgeable catcher is worth its weight in gold too. Prospects, I guess, are wonderful because they get first crack, but remember prospects are nothing more than one or a few guys' choices. And those same guys don't like to look bad because of choices they have made. Guys like Bibens, Copeland, and Lawrence will probably end up as consistent performers on other major league clubs.
