New Hampshire and Dunedin were the winners, Lansing the losers and Buffalo were all wet. Austin Bibens-Dirkx got back on track with the Fisher Cats. Ryan Schimpf and Kevin Pillar had home runs, Pillar had to leg his out. Jesse Hernandez was outstanding for Dunedin, as was Jon Berti. Taylor Cole and Alonzo Gonzalez were roughed up in Fort Wayne.

Buffalo at Lehigh Valley - postponed

Binghamton 2  New Hampshire 5

New Hampshire scored in each of the first three innings and led 4-1. Ryan Schimpf hit a solo home run in the first, Kevin Pillar hit an inside the park home run in the third. The Fisher Cats scored two in the second with a double by Ochinko and a single from Adam Loewen being the big hits. NH added an insurance run in the fifth, thanks to the usual suspects. John Tolisano, Kenny Wilson and Kevin Pillar each singled to start the inning. The run scored on a bases loaded walk.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx rebounded from a rough start by pitching seven strong innings. Pillar was the only hitter with two hits.

Dunedin 3  Lakeland 1

Jon Berti singled to lead off the game and scored on a sac fly. Jesse Hernandez took that one run and made it stand up. Then in the fourth inning KC Hobson and Marcus Knecht singled. Derrick Chung delivered a two out single and Berti another.

Hernandez did gave up a run in the sixth inning and was pulled after six. Scott Gracey pitched the last three innings for the save. Berti and Chung had two hits each.

Lansing 3 Fort Wayne 7

Taylor Cole was somewhat lucky to leave the game after five innings with a 3-2 lead. Cole had allowed nine base runners in his five innings but just two runs scored. With all the rain the Lansing starters have been short of work so Alonzo Gonzalez came on in relief of Cole. Gonzalez had a tough night, he couldn't escape the sixth inning and he conceded four runs. Fort Wayne outhit the Lugnuts 15-5.

The offense was spread around, Dalton Pompey drove in the first run. Chris Hawkins tripled and scored the second run. Kellen Sweeney doubled and scored when Santiago Nessy singled.

Before Short-Season teams start would anyone be doing a quick review of prospects currently playing? These postings are very good, but I don't know enough to properly evaluate who's playing.

An interesting issue - is Buffalo normally this messy this time of year?  The number of games lost and double headers required is getting silly it seems.  Has to mess up rotations and the like.  The plus is, at least the stats aren't video game style like Vegas...er...oh yeah, 27 runs.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx is doing pretty well overall this year, his previous rough start notwithstanding. Any chance he could become a prospect?

Bibens-Dirkx is a 28 yr. old who hasn't even been able to have success in AAA, but can hold his own against much younger players in AA. So no, would not think he's any sort of prospect.

Haven't heard what happened to jeffress since being designated on April 7. had to do something within 10 days, no?  Put on waivers.....passed....claimed? dealt?

Checking stats, Bibens-Dirkx has a lifetime 5.98 ERA in AAA over 218 innings.  Lots of that was in the PCL but last year he had 46 2/3 IP in Syracuse which is a good pitchers park iirc and had a 5.59 ERA although that seems to be bad luck as his HR/9 was 0.8, BB/9 3.1 and K/9 7.9 which should've produced a better ERA.

In AA over 140 innings he has a 3.60 ERA with 0.8 HR/9 and 3.0 BB/9 and 7.1 K/9.  If he was a LH pitcher he'd have a shot, but as a RH pitcher it'll be hard for him to get more than an emergency call-up someday.  Still, with pitchers you never know.  Develop a new pitch, gain control over an old one and you can quickly go from AA to the majors regardless of age or anything else.  Still, I'd put his odds of being anything useful in the majors at around 1%, 5% at best as guys who are 28 and in AA rarely get a shot, especially guys on their 4th organization, 3rd in the past 12 months.

Jeffress cleared according to http://jaysjournal.com/2013/04/16/jeffress-clears-waivers-outrighted-to-minors/
The team hasn't said where he'll go,and there is a good chance he'll be sent to AA due to his control issues (due to desire to win in Buffalo).

Gose hit his first homer of the season in the opener of a Buffalo double dip.  He has walked three times so far on the day in 6 PAs.

When he is called up, you could have him in center field against RHPs, Rasmus in left-tield and Bautista in RF with Cabrera DHing. Against LHPs, run out Cabrera, Rasmus and Bautista in the OF with Davis DHing.

Sierra was in the lineup, but then pulled for a pinch-hitter in the top of the 1st.  Promotion?

This would be nice.  With his speed I'd take Davis' .292/.350/.422 slash line against LHP out of the DH spot any day, as long as he's yanked for Gose at the first sign of a right-hander.
