Two doubleheaders were rained out. New Hampshire and Dunedin played and won. Andy Burns continued his hot hitting and like Kevin Pillar he is making contact and has only 4 K's this season. Ryan Tepera and Casey Lawrence pitched well to get the wins.

Scranton at Buffalo - Doubleheader, rained out

New Hampshire 6  Binghamton 1

Through 6 innings the Fisher Cats had 3 hits and led 5-1.  In the second inning two walks and a sac fly helped NH score their first run.  In the sixth the Mets walked in three runs.  The Fisher Cats ended with seven hits.  Clint Robinson had two hits.  Among the usual suspects Kenny Wilson, Kevin Pillar and Brad Glenn had a hit each.

Ryan Tepera put together a strong start, he pitched six innings, the only run was unearned, he gave up three hits and two walks with 4 K's.  Fernando Hernandez finished out the last three innings.

Lakeland 3 Dunedin 7

The Jays scored three runs in the first and second innings and Andy Burns was in the middle of both scoring efforts. In the first Burns singled after Jones walked. Jacobo doubled them both in and he later scored on a groundout. In the second Burns hit a three run home run. Jones, who had two hits on the night, doubled in the seventh run.

Casey Lawrence cruised until the seventh when he gave up a two run home run. Lawrence gave up 4 hits in 6.1 innings. Evan Crawford pitched 1.2 innings in relief. Burns is now hitting .389 and he has struck out just 4 times in 36 at-bats.

Is there room in Minor League Schedules to overcome all this Rain?   The Home Teams might win all the rain-delayed Games or they might lose all.   If you can't play the games, it doesn't matter, and they might need it to matter.

Quite the lineup in AA so far... first 5 hitters in the lineup have 340+ batting averages, next 4 are 250 or less.  Weird.

Odd that in AA I see an error for 'interference' for the pitcher.  For the catcher it is easy to see, for a 2B/SS/1B/3B it is easy to see but how did a pitcher get it?

Just did a check of leaderboards for the Eastern League and saw Adalberto Santos (Pittsburgh RF) hitting 476 after 7 games - wow.  Just 3 guys still over 400, top Jay is Clint Robinson at 382/523/441 - he has 9 walks and 8 K's.  John Tolisano is 4th (after Robinson) in OBP with a 364/488/727 line.  Brad Glenn is 7th with a 360/485/440 line.  Kenny Wilson and Kevin Pillar also are over 400 for OBP.  Now that I like to see.  Super early, but nice.

So Lawrie is listed as playing 2B for Dunedin today, interesting to say the least, this is from the Dunedin Jays twitter account:

@DunedinBlueJays: For clarification purposes, Brett Lawrie will be playing 2B for the D-Jays today. That was not a typo.
John Northey - Sunday, April 14 2013 @ 10:44 AM EDT (#270296) #
Weird... why would Lawrie be at 2B?  Are the Jays debating a new infield of Lawrie at 2B, Bautista at 3B and Reyes at SS for the long term?  If so then maybe they feel Gose has to come up soon and feel that would be better than letting Izturis play everyday at 2B.

Risky move as you are pushing guys defensively to their limits in the infield but your outfield defense could be 'wow' with Gose out there along with Rasmus and Cabrera and your offense should be better too.

Ah.. just mentioned this in the game thread... hadn't see this yet.

I will say that both Izturis and Bonafacio have been horrible defensively which I'm sure could play a factor in this.

I guess we should get a lot of wins on the farm because of veteran minor league players and overall strength in pitching.

Tolisano has been at NH for a while but still young due to being a HS draft pick. Pillar is 24 but has only 2 years of experience. Guys like Carreno & McGuire should be comfortable at NH, so they could be lights out.
