The Dunedin Blue Jays were eliminated from the playoffs with their second consecutive loss to Lakeland. Meanwhile, Lansing suffered a loss in their playoff opener and now must win two in a row to stay alive. The Canadians had an off day before beginning their next playoff series.

Lakeland 3 @ Dunedin 0Boxscore

The Dunedin Blue Jays were shut out by Drew VerHagen and a pair of Lakeland relievers. Jon Berti led the attack with a 3-for-3 evening. Unfortunately, all his teammates could muster were a pair of singles by JP Arencibia and Jon Talley. A rehabbing Brett Lawrie and Kenny Wilson each drew a walk, but Wilson was caught stealing and Lawrie committed an error in the field. Kevin Pillar, Kevin Ahrens and Marcus Knecht were also among the batters held hitless.

Sean Nolin went 6.2 innings, striking out 6. He didn’t walk a batter. However, he surrendered two runs on six hits. Randy Boone retired four batters before Frank Gailey gave up the third run on a solo homer in the ninth.

Lansing 2 @ Fort Wayne 5Boxscore

KC Hobson and Gustavo Pierre led the offensive attack. Hobson was 3-for-5 with a double and Pierre was 2-for-4 with a double and each drove in one of Lansing’s two runs. Nicholas Baligod and Jason Leblebijian contributed singles, with the latter scoring one of the team’s two runs. Leadoff hitter Dalton Pompey was 0-for-3 with two walks. Chris Hawkins was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored the other Lugnuts run.

Noah Syndergaard started, but did not have his strongest stuff. He went 4 innings and allowed three runs on six hits and a walk. Syndergaard struck out 5 and got four groundouts compared to one flyout. Shawn Griffith gave up a run over 2 innings on four hits and Casey Beck retired only one of the four batters he faced, allowing a hit and two walks. Brandon Berl gave up a solo homer over 1.2 innings.

Three Stars:
3rd Star – KC Hobson, 3-for-5, 2B, RBI, 4 TB
2nd Star – Sean Nolin, 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
1st Star – Jon Berti, 3-for-3, 3 TB

Like i said, bummer for the players who helped the D jays to the playoffs only to sit on the sidelines while players rehabbed.

does this mean JPA and Lawrie make a pit-stop in Lansing to continue to get live at bats?

per ESPN, Lawrie going to Lansing, JPA joining the Jays in Boston.

Vancouver will be playing Boise in the Northwest League final. Boise beat Yakima in Game 3 by a score of 3-2 to mark the end of minor pro baseball at Yakima County Stadium. The Bears will relocate to Hillsboro, Oregon in 2013. The road team won all three games of the series.

Game 1 goes in Vancouver Thursday and I believe Javier Avendano gets the start for the C's. With Games 2 and 3 Saturday and Sunday, Roberto Osuna or Daniel Norris would be the candidates to start. If it goes the limit, would Taylor Cole be available on three days rest? Hopefully, the C's pitching can hold down the Boise bats of Daniel Vogelbach and Cubs first rounder Albert Almora among others. Boise will have a long ride to B.C. I hope they encounter a big delay at the border! ;D

Cool. Thanks. Forgot to mention Cooper, I see he played in Tuesday's D-Jay game as well.

Eh?

Osuna pitched Monday, Cole Tuesday. Avendano goes Thursday and Friday is off.

Thus Osuna on Saturday and Cole on Sunday has both on their normal 4 days rest, no?

I wonder if Lawrie will bump Pierre.

I wonder if Lawrie will bump Pierre.

Probably.

Kevin Patterson is the DH and a key cog in the Lansing offense.Though Pierre has been in his neighborhood the last few months so...maybe one of them sits in each game?

You're right.  I was thinking there were games Friday and Saturday and not Saturday and Sunday.  Guess I'll lay off the BC bud.  Whoops!  The rotation actually lines up quite well for the C's here.

Anyways, if there are any Bauxites heading to tonight's game at the Nat, C's outfielder Matt Newman has requested on Twitter that fans in attendance wear black to match the black alternate uniforms the team has been wearing throughout the stretch drive and playoff run.  You can follow Newman on Twitter at @Newmanati9.  Even if you're not going, wear black anyway to show your support!  Go C's!  #BeatBoise #BlackOutTheNat

Lansing were eliminated tonight 9-6. In terms of earned runs Lansing won 6-3. Brett Lawrie had three hits but he made two critical errors in the field.

Six run leads were not safe tonight in Lansing & Vancouver. The C's rallied from 7-1 down to beat Boise 10-7. Art Charles homered and Balbino Fuenmayor's two run single put them ahead for good in the 8th. The C's managed to pull it out despite blowing a bases loaded, nobody out situation earlier in the game and Javier Avendano not being as sharp as usual. Game 2 goes in Boise Saturday.

I notice that Boise sent Rafael Diplan in to pitch with the score tied at 7. You could say that Diplan quickly unraveled, giving up a two run single and a run scoring wild pitch.

Ottawa will renovate the Lynx Stadium and they have and agreement with the Eastern League, but they still have no team and no owner.

Maybe MLB will expand again, requiring 2 more AA teams :)

More realistically, the Jays love the ownership for their current AA team - could they be interested in moving the team hoping to get both a new stadium and potentially more profits in Ottawa? Regardless, if they have a deal with someone in AA then odds are we won't hear the teams name until just after their last season outside of Ottawa is done. No one likes to support a lame duck.
