Las Vegas 8 @ Round Rock 5 – Boxscore
Scott Richmond started and had a very solid performance for the 51’s. He went 6 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk. Richmond struck out six. Chris Jakubauskas gave up three runs over 0.2 innings before Evan Crawford finishing off the inning and allowed the last of Jakubauskas’s runners to score. Chad Beck pitching two scoreless innings to pick up his 14th save.
The 51’s had 14 hits and every starter but Danny Perales, who went 0-for-5, contributed. Ricardo Nanita led the attack with a pair of singles and a pair of doubles for a four-hit game. The Mikes – McDade and McCoy – each went 1-for-5. Jonathan Diaz had two singles and two runs and there were contributions from the relatively new additions. Tuffy Gosewich went 2-for-5 with a double, Jack Cust had a single and a walk and Luke Hughes added a single and two walks.
New Hampshire 8 @ Erie 3 – Boxscore
A rehabbing Brandon Morrow went 5 innings and gave up a pair of solo homers. Morrow walked one and allowed one other hit, while striking out two. Michael Dubee allowed a run before Matt Daly, Ronald Uviedo and Sam Dyson each threw a scoreless inning. The offence was led by John Tolisano, who went 3-for-4 with two homers and a walk. Ryan Schimpf and Kevin Howard each added a single and a double and Brian Bocock had two base knocks. Brad Glenn was 1-for-4, but he made his hit count by notching a three-run homer with two out in the ninth to make a two run lead much more comfortable.
Dunedin 1 @ Brevard County 5 (7 innings) – Boxscore
Jon Talley’s solo homer was the only hit for Dunedin over 7 innings. Casey Lawrence went 6 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk. Lawrence struck out five. Alan Farina gave up two hits but no runs in his one inning of relief.
Dayton 4 @ Lansing 2 (10 innings) – Boxscore
Lansing came from behind twice to tie the game, but couldn’t do it a third time as the Dragons scored two in the 10th inning and doubled the Lugnuts 4-2. Jesse Hernandez started and allowed both runs in the normal innings, although only one was earned. He went 6 innings and surrendered six hits and a walk, striking out two. Hernandez retired 10 of 11 batters on balls in play on groundouts. Philip Brua threw a scoreless inning of relief before Brandon Berl twirled a scoreless pair. He allowed two runners on during his third inning of relief and was pulled with two outs. However, the move didn’t pay off, as Ian Kadish allowed two hits and both inherited runners to score.
Andy Fermin and Shane Optiz each had two hits. KC Hobson contributed an RBI double, while Michael Crouse, Kevin Patterson, Kipp Schultz, Aaron Munoz and Gustavo Pierre all went 1-for-4. Chris Hawkins was held hitless in five at-bats.
Vancouver 3 @ Tri-City 9 – Boxscore
The Canadians were held to seven singles and every starter got one except for Derrick Chung and Jorge Flores. Kellen Sweeney and Leo Hernandez picked up RBIs as the Canadians were 2-for-10 hitting with runners in scoring position. Ben White started and had a strong outing, going 5 shutout innings with two hits allowed and seven strikeouts. Unfortunately, Eric Brown relieved him and had a disastrous game giving up seven runs over 1.2 innings on six hits and a walk. Bryan Longpre finished it off and surrendered two more runs.
Bluefield 3 @ Princeton 4 (13 innings) – Boxscore
Bluefield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as the first four batters reached base. Jorge Vega-Rosado walked and then three consecutive singles by Eric Arce, Christian Lopes and Dwight Smith Jr. scored a run and Bluefield still had the bases loaded. Santiago Nessy hit a sac fly and then Nico Taylor singled home the third run before Jacob Anderson and Matt Dean were retired. Bluefield used up all of their offence early and failed to register a base runner from the 6th inning onwards.
Princeton clawed their way back one run at a time to take the game into extras. Deivy Estrada started and allowed five hits over 5 innings. He did give up two solo homers, but also struck out six. Estrada induced eight groundouts and no fly ball outs. Griffin Murphy followed him and allowed an unearned run over 2.2 innings. However, Murphy was touched for three hits and two walks. Wil Browning followed Murphy with 2.1 innings of three-hit scoreless relief. Joe Spano contributed with 2 scoreless innings, as well. However, Shane Davis suffered the loss after walking the first batter he faced and then Matt Dean threw away a grounder for a three-base error that cashed the winning run.
GCL Blue Jays 0 @ GCL Tigers 4 – Boxscore
Alberto Tirado went 4 innings and didn’t allow a hit. He struck out three and walked a pair. Chase De Jong gave up a hit and struck out three over 2 innings. Casey Beck went a scoreless inning and the GCL Blue Jays were tied with the Tigers 0-0 after 8 innings. However, in the bottom of the ninth, Francisco Gracesqui, in his second inning, gave up a run and the Blue Jays suffered a walk off loss.
The GCL Blue Jays were limited to four hits in the game. Dawel Lugo went 2-for-4, but was caught stealing. Justin Atkinson and Gabe Cenas each had a hit and Cenas drew a walk. DJ Davis was 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
