If an offer comes I imagine it would be a tough call for Tony. On one hand there are only 30 jobs and they don't come around too often. On the other hand the Orioles owner, Peter Angelos, is a notable meddler and second guesser. Angelos also has a son who is active in the business.
So if you are Tony do you take a flawed job or let it go to someone else?
Still, it's Heyman whom I don't particularly trust so we'll have to see.
If he's beyond an initial interview it seems like he already made that decision.
Of course, as a Jays fan, I would hate to see him go. AA could probably use his services for another year or two.
I suspect the guy is being overrated here though. As I understand it, young AA blew right past him in the Jays organization.

I am disappointed, you are underrating Alex Anthopoulos's abilities when you say Tony LaCava is overrated. Take the Top 4 GMs in Baseball not named Alex Anthopoulos, give them (at Tony's age) his job. A.A. would blow by all of them, much easier. A.A. is that good. It's possible T.L. is as good as, or better, that those 4 GMs. It's not that Tony LaCava isn't as good as A.A., it's that A.A.is just so much better than anyone else.
I wish LaCava good luck but I think AA & the Jays will be fine.
Final Elias Rankings are out:
A Ranked Kelly Johnson B Ranked Frank Francisco Jon Rauch Jose Molina Shawn Camp Jason Frasor ended up as a Type B. Johnson had been projected as a Type B... so his being a type A may make it more likely he'll accept arbitration if offered as a team would have to give up a pick to sign him.Presuming of course the meeting goes well.
You mean if he remembers to bring the calzone?
"As you know, Blue Jays assistant general manager Tony LaCava met with owner Peter Angelos yesterday. You can read plenty into LaCava's return trip to Baltimore, though it's important to note that Angelos wasn't present for LaCava's first interview. He met with Dodgers executive De Jon Watson, so it's not like he's never in the room. From what I'm hearing, LaCava came away very encouraged by his second interview and is prepared to take the job if it's offered. "
