Nothing to see here, move along. There weren't really any great performances from top prospects on Monday night - we're stuck with a decent outing from Chad Jenkins, a 1-4 with a HR from Anthony Gose... things like that. But hey, Kevin Patterson was great!

Fresno 6 at Las Vegas 4

Vegas scored four runs in the first, mostly on homers from Darin Maestro Yanni and Chris "Bob" Woodward, but were stifled after that. Adeiny Hechavarria is cooling off, and went 0-4 with 2 Ks in this game, while Travis Snider didn't even play. So the role players and veterans did most of the damage, with Adam Loewen and Woodward each banging out three hits. Chad Beck allowed all six runs in 3.1 innings, but the bullpen was much better, shutting the Grizzlies out over the next 17 outs.

Trenton 4 at New Hampshire 3

Chad Jenkins after the first inning: 6 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K. Even with the first inning, in which he allowed four hits and three runs, the righty's line looks mighty fine, with a 9:2 GO:AO to boot. He left losing 3-2, and though the Cats managed one more run, Trenton played a cat and mouse game, never allowing New Hampshire to get the lead back.

Anthony Gose led off for the cats and hit a homer in four trips. Yan Gomes hit a two-run double.

Dunedin - no game scheduled

Dayton 17 at Lansing 7

Lansing could have used some Jason Lane in their bullpen. After Tyler Powell had a not-terrible five-inning outing, allowing four runs, Shawn Griffith, Alesone Escalante and Sam Strickland combined to allow 13 runs in the last four innings.

The good news: despite getting hammered (in baseball I mean, they weren't drunk), Lansing's offense actually functioned pretty effectively, and scored enough to win most games. Leading the way were Eli Boike (2-5, 2B, 3B, BB), Jake Marisnick (2-5) and Matt Nuzzo (3-5).

Vancouver 5 at Salem-Keizer 14

Yikes. Four different Vancouver pitchers allowed multiple runs, including starter Kramer Champlin (0.2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER). Alex Pepe was good though! One out of five pitchers ain't bad. Okay, yeah it is.

If the offense was entirely made of Kevin Pattersons, the abysmal pitching wouldn't have mattered. The first baseman smacked three hits totalling eight total bases - two doubles and a home run. He also walked to have a near-perfect day at the plate. Matt Newman also homered.

Bluefield 7 at Greeneville 5

On Monday night, Greeneville was a little.... BLUE!!!!!!!!!!! I should write headlines for the BBC.

The B-Jays were down 5-1 early but scored in five different innings to claw back and defeat the G-Astros (haha, the Gastros). Chris Hawkins had two hits and a sac fly in four trips, and he also stole a base, while Kevin Pillar singled twice and doubled.

Deivi Estrada allowed all five runs in four innings but Les Williams and Misaul Diaz shut Greeneville down the rest of the way.

GCL Jays 12 at GCL Tigers 4

The G-Jays scored six in the second inning and never looked back. Everybody got in on the action - including Chris Peters, who pinch-hit for Dickie Thon in the 8th inning and promptly smacked a grand slam. Eric Arce (#14) and Jacob Anderson (#2) also hit home runs and Melvin Garcia and Justin Atkinson each went 3-5 with a double.

2011 draft pick Joe Musgrove got the start and went his typical three innings. He allowed a single earned run on three hits while punching out a pair.

DSL Jays - no game schedule

Three Stars!
3. Chad Jenkins - 7 IP, 3 ER, 8 K
2. Chris Woodward - 3 H, HR
1. Kevin Patterson - 3-4, 2 2B, HR, BB

the transaction wire still doesn't reflect the reported promotions of Syndergaard and Nicolino to Lansing. I do wish they would keep up, lol.

Looks like a good possibility that Dunedin and the GCL team will lose 2-3 games to Irene this week.

I wonder if they would try to play the Thursday game earlier to try to get it in ahead of the rain? It's not like big crowds show up anyway...

In the past 8 days, Snider has been benched for 3 games (Aug. 15, Aug. 21 and Aug. 22).  During those 3 games, his only appearance was a 9th-inning pinch-running stint on Sunday.  Anyone know what's going on with him?   I checked the Las Vegas 51s game notes on their website -- no mention of an injury.  Also checked the Las Vegas Review-Journal -- again no mention of an injury.  And he hasn't tweeted since Sunday.  It's all very mysterious.

Tamra, as far as transactions for pitchers, they typically don't announce those until the pitcher is scheduled to throw for the team.  My guess is that they will throw a pen or two and then get thrust into the rotation.

In answer to my question about Snider, here's the answer, tweeted by Shi Davidi:   "Farrell says Snider has right wrist issue, is to be examined by dr. Played with it for 4 games before sitting."

the transaction page says Lance Durham has been placed on the DL...but his twitter feed sure seems to imply he's done with the Jays, at the very least done for the season.

I was at the Las Vegas game in this thread, got a few pictures. A few notes from a non-scout:. Hechavarria looked lost and completely overmatched against a lefty throwing what I think were changeups, Woodward made a great play with help from Cooper on the throw, but otherwise not much positive happened after the first inning. Beck, who I don't know much about, was all over the place on the radar gun (87-93 FB), got swings and misses quite a bit for a guy also getting crushed around the park the rest of the time. Ninth inning rally killed quickly by a double play, which was preceded by what the scorer apparently called a hit for Woodward - it was an error to my eye, not a really tough chance. Mayorson's caught stealing earlier in the game was a botched hit and run. Uviedo pitched really well with good velocity.

The game temp was a balmy 40-42 C, pretty damn hot. I'm not sure how much useful practice the AAA team can get in during the day, given it's 45C most of the time.  Player energy was pretty low, I suspect due to the temp. It's a nice facility, to my eye, although I haven't seen other AAA parks in person.

Bill Hall playing for Fresno looked terrible, with multiple swing and misses in each at bat it seemed. Nix also seemed pretty much done at the plate is this game, although he was solid in the field. Torres (rehabbing) crushed his hits, hitting a long HR and a long triple of the CF fence (433 feet).

Sorry I missed Snider and more prominent pitchers, but a good time at the park despite the loss.
