We got your losses. Everywhere except Vancouver and the Gulf Coast League.

Oklahoma City 6 @ Las Vegas 5Boxscore

Chad Beck’s third start in Triple-A resembled his first two, as he wasn’t able to make it out of the sixth inning. He walked two, struck out one and allowed nine hits. Oklahoma City touched him for five runs, although only two were earned. Winston Abreu came in and stranded one of Beck’s runners and went on to pitch 1.2 scoreless innings. Sean Henn gave up a run in a tie game in the top of the eighth and suffered the loss. Mike MacDonald pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Hot-hitting David Cooper was one of only two 51’s held without a hit, but he still worked two free passes. Ryan Budde and Chris Woodward were each 1-for-4 with a walk. Mike McCoy had a single in five at-bats with 2 RBIs. Darin Mastroianni, Jayson Nix and Ricardo Nanita each had two hits, with Nanita adding a walk. Kevin Howard, the other hitless 51, also worked two walks. Adam Loewen was 3-for-4 with a walk and a pair of doubles.

New Hampshire 2 @ Bowie 7Boxscore

New Hampshire had five hits on the afternoon, all but one singles. Yan Gomes had a double and was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Calix Crabbe was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly that scored Gomes. Anthony Gose and Dan Perales were 1-for-4 and Moises Sierra also had a hit. Adeiny Hechavarria was 0-for-4 and Travis d’Arnaud was 0-for-3 with a run scored, before being lifted for Rob Bowen. The Fisher Cats were 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Yohan Pino gave up two runs on four hits over 4 innings. He struck out seven and walked one. Rey Gonzalez gave up four runs over 2.2 innings in relief.

Dunedin 4 @ Tampa 8Boxscore

Andrew Liebel gave up nine hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He took the loss, surrendering six runs. Scott Gracey went 1.2 innings, striking out three. He gave up a run on four hits and a walk. Harold Mozingo gave up an unearned run over 2 innings, striking out four. Dunedin got ten hits, but went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Jon Talley had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a double. Sean Ochinko went 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Justin Jackson and Brian Van Kirk each went 1-for-4, with Jackson scoring a run. Ryan Goins was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Although he didn’t score a run, Brad McElroy was the offensive star with a 3-for-4 night that included a walk and an RBI. McElroy was also perhaps the defensive star with two defensive assists from the outfield.

Lansing 2 @ Fort Wayne 7Boxscore

Tyler Powell started and fell down to 2-3 by allowing two runs over 4.2 innings. Powell gave up six hits and two walks. Sam Strickland gave up five runs, although only two earned, on eight hits over 3.1 innings. Jake Marisnick was 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base. Marcus Knecht was held hitless, but drew a pair of free passes. K.C. Hobson was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Lance Durham added a solo homer and a walk and Jake Murphy and Oliver Dominguez were each for 1-for-4.

Spokane 1 @ Vancouver 2Boxscore

Jesse Hernandez started for the Canadians and twirled 6 shutout innings. He struck out three and walked two, but only allowed two hits. Bryan Longpre gave up a run in relief and then Drew Permision picked up his 11th save with 1.1 scoreless innings that included three strikeouts. Jonathon Berti was 2-for-3 with a walk and Shane Optiz also had two singles and added two stolen bases. Jonathan Jones and Matt Newman were each 1-for-3. Jones, Balbino Fuenmayor and Nicholas Baligod each drew walks. Baligod scored a run, as did Roan Salas who was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Bluefield 3 @ Johnson City 7Boxscore

Aaron Sanchez and Myles Jaye split the eight innings against Johnson City. Sanchez gave up four runs over his 4 innings, while Jaye gave up three, two earned. Sanchez struck out four and walked three, while Jaye had one of each. Every Bluefield batter but Art Charles had a hit and Chales managed to draw a walk. Andy Fermin was 1-for-3 with a walk and run. Kevin Pillar was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Melvin Garcia was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Gustavo Pierre was among the other batters to add a single.

GCL Blue Jays 10 @ GCL Pirates 7 (10 innings)Boxscore

The GCL Blue Jays were down 6-0 after 5 innings and were down 7-5 going into the top of the ninth. However, the GCL Blue Jays added two in that inning to force extras, where the GCL Blue Jays scored three in the top of the tenth to get the victory. Randal Thompson started and gave up six runs over 1.2 innings, although none were earned. While it might be tempting to blame Thompson for most of these runs on the theory he should have got out of the inning at some point regardless, that really isn’t true in this case. Thompson was on the mound for three errors by Santiago Nessy (he added a fourth later in the game for good measure), along with errors by George Carroll and Dickie Thon Jr. One of Nessy’s errors came on a steal attempt at second and the throw was so wild the runner came around to score. Some solid relief pitching was turned in by Luis Mendez, who threw 3 innings of one-hit ball, and Colby Broussard, who picked up the win with 2.1 one-hit innings.

Nessy was 2-for-5 with a double, but probably still found it a game to forget. Dalton Pompey was 3-for-6 and finished a homer shy of the cycle. Andrew Burns was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. He hit a solo homer in the ninth inning and Eric Arce also hit a solo homer in the ninth to tie the game. Arce was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, 2 RBI and two free passes. Sony Javier homered with one out in the tenth for the winning run. Christian Frias singled and Pompey singled him in. Matt Abraham grounded out, but beat the play at first and allowed Arce to single in the third run of the inning

DSL Angels 7 @ DSL Blue Jays 0Boxscore
DSL Blue Jays 0 @ DSL Angels 3Boxscore

In the first game, the DSL Blue Jays had one hit. It was no better in the second game, as the DSL Blue Jays had two hits. The incomparably-named Ericdavis Marquez gave up three runs, all uneared on an Emilio Guerrero miscue. He fell to 1-5, although his ERA sits at 1.25. Jairo Labourt started and went 3 scoreless innings.

Three Stars:
3rd Star – Brad McElroy, 3-for-4, RBI, BB, 3 TB
2nd Star – Adam Loewen, 3-for-4, R, 2 2B, BB, 5 TB
1st Star – Jesse Hernandez, 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K

Today is Andy Burns' 21st birthday. He can celebrate a great first week of pro ball: 10-16 (.625), 1HR, 7 RBI, 2 BB, 0K. Not bad for his first competitive action since the 2010 Cape Cod League. Another toolsy IFer with power and speed who could advance quickly at either 3B or 2B.

Mississaugan Dalton Pompey is really progressing nicely.  Still just 18, he's hitting over .300 in his last 10 to bring the average over .250.  His OBP is about .350 and he's 17 for 17 in stealing bases.  Showing some power with 4 HR's in about 150 AB's.  Seems to have a nice blend of skills.

Anybody know what's happened to SS Brandon Mims, last year's 9th round pick?  He's listed as being on the "temporary inactive list" after playing in just 1 game.

Burns joins a large group of middle infielders that are performing well for the farm clubs.  As has been mentioned before, there will be some heated competion among guys like Berti, Opitz, Vega, Fermin, Thon, Mooney, Conner for spots in Lansing/Vancouver next year.

Where can I find a rightie like that?

Nicolino didn't start on his regular turn in Vancouver today...and Lansing has a potentially open turn tomorrow...should we assume?

I think he's been held back an extra day before, would be great if it was a promotion though.

Nice day for Hechavarria today: 3/5, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI. Gose was 2/4 with SB #52.

I'm starting to wonder about Henn. He has dropped his walks and hits per inning this year. and considering that he's at Las Vegas, that impresses me. He's not on the 40-man, and I don't have data on the decisions we'll have to make this off-season, but I am starting to wonder if he might become a minor but useful left handed piece.

PJ Walters got a rude introduction in his first home game in Las Vegas tonight, he didn't make it out of the second inning.

weird - there was something on Twitter the other day that said Lawrence was going BACK to Dunedin and i've been watching for confirmation. i should have made note of the fact i haven't seen any so...yeah - it would be his turn.

True...bt they were already doing a sort of six man rotation before Cole started today. If Nicolino starts tomorrow he'd be on six days but they would be skipping Champlin altogether this time through. So i thought something might be afoot...

Reviewing Lawrence's feed i don't see anything about Dunedin so whoever said that was in error I guess.

Also, it stands to reason that if they are spacing Nicolino out possibly to manage workload, he's probably not getting promoted.

Wow. Brett Lawrie is all of 7 months older (and 7  levels higher)  than a kid in his 1st week of pro ball.

Hech's line in the last 10 games: 381/422/548. Hoping it's more than a hot streak. If this guy can learn to hit, watch out...considering all the raving reviews about his defence.
