Hot lumber told the story on the farm on Friday with the affiliates winning 5 of 6 games played. Some nice pitching performances, but the story was told by so many stepping up to the plate on offence.
15 hits propelled the strongmen of the Vegas strip past the Aces to the chagrin of 7,877 Reno faithful at home Friday night. Winning pitcher Kyle Drabek (2-2) struggled through 6.0 IP allowing no less than 10 hits, 5 runs and a homer while striking out just 2.
The 51s covered Drabek’s sins on the night by scoring in 5 of 9 innings led by superb performance on offence by Brian Jeroloman (4 for 5, 2B, 2 RBIs, K, AVE .249). David Cooper (1 for 4, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB, AVE .372) Homered and Brett Larwie (2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, 3B, 2 BB, AVE .369) kept forgetting his left hand injury and reached base 4 times including a double and a triple. Adding to the cause were 2 RBI nights from Kevin Howard (1 for 5, R, 2 RBIs, 2 Ks, AVE .289) and Chris Woodward (3 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 2RBIs, K, AVE .297). Danny Perales (1 for 5, RBI, K, AVE .309), Adam Loewen (2 for 3, 2B, RBI, 2 BB, AVE .320), and Darin Mastrioanni (0 for 5, RBI).

Dunedin thrilled 696 home fans with a 5 run tilt over visiting St. Lucie. DBJs pitching spread out 10 hits with the winners ribbon going to Casey Lawrence (2-0) (6.2 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 6Ks, ERA 5.25). No errors for Dunedin.
Ryan Schimpf took the offence honors with 4 RBIs, going 3 for 4, with 2 runs, and a pair of homers. Other multi-hit performers included Brad McElroy (2 for 4, R, K, AVE .271), Sean Ochinko (2 for 4, R, RBI, AVE .249) and Ivan Contreras (2 for 4, R, 2 2B, RBI, K, AVE .208). Another RBI was dished up by Ryan Goins (0 for 3, R, RBI, K, AVE .278) on a sac fly.
Despite 13 hits, the Luggies suffered the Farm’s only loss Friday night on the road at West Michigan. Lansing pitching gave up a total of 9 hits, struck out only 3 and managed 4 BB. Loosing pitcher Brandon Berl (3-1) (2.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, BB, HR, ERA 2.45) coughed up the gopher ball to the number 7 West Michigan Hitter in the bottom of the 8th and watched the winning run cross the plate.
RBI’s came from three luggies. One each from 3 hit Marcus Brisker (3 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, K, AVE .235), 4 hit Marcus Knecht (4 for 5, R, 2B, HR, RBI, K, AVE .304) and Garis Pena (1 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, K, AVE .219).
Exploding with 15 hits, the visiting Vancouvcer Canadians dominated hometown Tri-City due in no small part to the 9 Ks from Canadians pitchers. Winning pitcher Brian Longpre (3-2, 3.0 IP, R, 2 H, 2 Ks, ERA .073) had 2 Ks, as did closer Eric Brown (1.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, ERA 5.25). Starter Zack Breault (4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks, ERA 4.14) faced 18 batters and struck out 5. In the field the Candians had two throwing errors, one from Bryan Kervin (2 for 4, BB, AVE .198) and one from Kevin Patterson (1 for 4, 2 RBIs, 3 Ks, AVE .143).
Run production leader was Balbino Fuenmayor (3 for 5, 2 R, 2 2B, 3 RBIs, K, AVE .259) followed by Patterson with 2. One each came from Matt Newman (2 for 5, R, RBI, 2 Ks, AVE .224), Jonathan Jones (2 for 5, 2 R, RBI, AVE .302), Nicholas Baligod (2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, AVE .264) and Chris Schaefer (0 for 4, BB, RBI, K, AVE .243).
On a steamy Friday Evening (96 degrees f), the Bluefield boys 12 hit their way to victory over Burlington in Burlington. Winning pitcher Mitchell Taylor (2-1, ERA 2.91) secured the win in 6IP with 9 strike outs of the 16 batters he faced. Bluefield defence helped out the cause with a flawless night in the field.
Five RBIs were boarded by the Blue Jays, one by Daniel Arcila (2 for 5, R, 2 2B, RBI, BB, Ave .216), one by Gustavo Pierre (1 for 6, 2B, R, RBI, 3Ks, Ave .261), Andy Fermin (2 for 6, R, 2 2B, RBI, Ave .301), Eli Boike (1 for 5, RBI, 2Ks, Ave .214). Overall, doubles were the order of the evening with a total of seven coming from Blue Jays bats.
In a ten hit flurry, the Blue Jays took a baseball lesson to the Tigers behind winning pitcher Nicholas Purdy (3-0, ERA 0.79) who struck out 8 in 5 innings of shut out baseball. Julio Carmona took the save. Flawless in the field, the Blue Jays were mixed in base running with one stolen base by Dalton Pompey (2 for 5, R, K), his 16th while Angel Gomez (2 for 3, K) was caught stealing for the 3rd time this season.
Every Blue Jay hit for the day except Chris Peters (0 for 3, BB, K). Multi-hit performances were served up by Dalton Pompey and Angel Gomez. RBIs also came off the bats of Dickie Thon (1 for 3, RBI, BB, K), Alexsys Rodriguez (1 for 4, 2BB, RBI, K) and Justin Atkinson (1 for 4, 2B, RBI).
