A nine-game losing streak for a last-place team will do that to a guy.

Replacing former catcher Bob Geren, at least in the interim, is former catcher Bob Melvin.

Who's next?

Interesting that the A's drafted his son, Brett, yesterday.

The AL's leading 1B, with Lind's counting stat's pro-rated to the same AB's as Gonzalez:

Cabrera - Lind - Gonzalez
.317 - .329 - .335 - BA
.435 - .367 - .385 - OBP
.573 - .584 - .566 - SLG
1.008 -.951 - .951 - OPS
17 - 8 - 18 - doubles
13 - 19 - 12 - homers
45 - 62 - 53 RBI
46 - 18 - 21 walks
36 - 45 - 45 strikeouts
125 - 146 - 142 total bases

He'd be second only to Bautista in homers for the entire AL (not just 1B), first in RBI, first in total bases - he's 5th in the AL in slugging (if he qualified)

***

If you don't count Mike Napoli who's only started 19 games as a catcher, JPA is second among AL catchers in OPS and first in homers and RBI and also obviously the leader among rookies.

Couple of questions:

1) Has there ever been any discussion of creating a Batter's Box podcast? I think there would be quite a bit of demand.

2) Has anyone found any good reviews of the Jays draft? The draft thread is getting a little long and I haven't been able to find any links in there.

I think it's hard to evaluate the draft until the signing deadline (Aug 15?).  In the meantime, I found this summary very helpful:
http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2011/6/8/2213117/breaking-down-the-jays-selections-in-the-mlb-draft-2011

and you can track the signing progress here:

Sickels is also reviewing all teams draft on http://www.minorleagueball.com/.  So far he has only the NL West and he said it would take about 8-10 days to go through all teams.

Keith Law also did a summary of all teams (no ranking), but it's insider only, so I won't link it. Sickels' is going to be more through anyways.

I think you won't find anyone of the usual experts not liking the Jays draft, considering the volume of top100/200 players the Jays drafted.  In the draft thread, you can find BA and DSS rankings, here I add Law's:

#16. Daniel Norris   LHP   (DSS: #7) -- Law: #35
#23. [pre-shoulder injury] John Stilson   RHP   (DSS [post-shoulder injury]: #101)  -- Law: NR
#35. Tyler Beede   RHP   (DSS: #31) -- Law: #30
#49. Dwight Smith Jr.   OF   (DSS: #53)  -- Law: #73
#54. Matt Dean   3B   (DSS: #56)  -- Law: NR
#90. Joe Musgrove   RHP   (DSS: #69)  -- Law: #95
#102. Kevin Comer   RHP   (DSS: #40)  -- Law: #41
#155. Andrew Suarez   LHP   (DSS: #169)  -- Law: NR
#157. Jacob Anderson   OF   (DSS: #93)  -- Law: #88

That's 6 out of 100 for Law.  Makes it hard for him the criticize the draft before he knows who signs.

Here is the common summary of the Jays draft:

It will be very good if they sign all their top picks.  Until they do sign those picks most evaluators are non-committal because they would consider the draft poor if the Jays don't sign several of their picks.
