MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian is leavingthe Toronto beat to cover the Cleveland Indians. It’s a shame to lose him, as Bastian is a dedicated and intelligent writer who provided great material for the website.

The move is logical, as he is from the Midwest and has a base of family and friends there. For those of you with Twitter, Bastian will keep his Twitter account and now deliver a prolific amount of Indians content. However, it’s a loss for Blue Jays baseball fans and the new reporter will have some sizable shoes to fill. Thanks for five good years, Jordan.

Best wishes to Jordan Bastian who did an excellent job here.

I'll second that. Jordan's a nice fellow, and I'll miss him down at the Dome. Obviously the chance to move back to the midwest makes a whole lot of sense for him personally.

Hopefully MLB will replace him with someone who will move his family to Toronto to live.

You obviously will live in Toronto if you're going to cover the team on a daily basis - Jordan has a nice post on his blog describing living here for the past six years and what he's going to miss about it all.

So which Bauxite is going to replace him?

I got the impression from Jordan that, while his wife and son visited from time to time, they lived at their home in suburban Chicago.

It's a shame to lose him. I thought he improved greatly in his time here. He was always an energetic reporter, and he became a trusted voice.

Jordan! Come to DFW! That's sorta the midwest -- just more southy ...

I'm rooting for former intern Erica Gilbert to get the gig - she's still in town isn't she? (her twitter account list Toronto as her location i think)

That works for me! (Hey, I've been down the line from Bastian and Fordin all these years.)

Jordon - will be missed. Good guy, good work - what's not to like!

As to his replacement - SERIOUSLY - I think the team/MLB.COM should have a  long look at about a dozen of so Jay's Bloggers, from a series of Jay's Blogs, that are very well informed, are good writers with an almost 24/7/365 dedication to the team, the city and the sport. The team would do well to consider from such a short list - and we fans would be well served to have someone so dedicated to the team and fanatic about the team, its prospects, and their prospects.

Time for a scotch.

As of this morning it looks as if Gregor Chisholm is the new MLB beat reporter for the Jays.  He posted an MLBlog this morning.

In true bauxite fashion, shouldn't we christen Gregory with an anagram name?

I vote: Mr. Clogs, Higher Yo

Or rather, without the 'Y'.

I'm partial to "Rogers Milch Hog" for Mr. Chisholm's anagram.
