In another thread, veteran Bauxite Mike Green intones, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going.  Can we not talk about something else, like ...

  • Perhaps the best pop song which adverts to September? The efforts of Kurt Weill, Rod Stewart, Earth Wind and Fire and Green Day come to mind. 
  • Or perhaps, the best Septembers by a ballclub? 
  • Or whether Lyle Overbay or some other defensively qualified first baseman should be signed during the off-season?

MG, I assume your reference is to Ynoder Alonso -- and while Cincy can certainly afford to deal someone who plays the same position as Joey Votto, he's three singles and a double (plus six stirkeouts and NO walks) in 15 games. What would you give up for said Yonder?

Just for the record, though I hope everyone knew this already, posting to this thread does not in any way require the form of an ad slogan (though again, Mike set the bar high). Normal rhetoric, proselytizing and ad hominema ttacks as seen throughout Da Box continue to be welomce,  of course.

Alonso's value may be quite a bit down after his performance in triple A this year.  I expect that you'd give up a pitching prospect other than Drabek or Stewart.
