We can still put guys out on waivers and see what happens. Maybe now that they've seen our poker face they'll be more willing to deal. But most of all, I think this deadline was a good statement of faith in our scouts. We won't get pushed around into making deals just for the sake of it. We believe that we can draft the next Jesus Montero or Jose Iglesias with the compensation picks we get for Scott Downs, so unless you're giving us the real thing we'll take our chances next June.
Collins is not on a 40 man roster is he? those guys can be dealt in August so I'm still up for picking the Royals' pocket...
I would have given the Braves Scott Downs in exchange for Collins and maybe a C prospect at an organizationally useful position. Kyle Farnsworth is only a fireman in the "Fahrenheit 451" sense of the terms.
