It was a wild night on the farm. Dunedin had two hits through eight innings but won the game in eleven innings with four hits total. Mike McDade hit a game tying, two-out, two run home run in the ninth to tie the game and the winning run scored thanks to two wild pitches in the eleventh. Lansing had a comfortable 9-2 lead, that became an uncomfortable 9-8 lead, before winning 11-9. Las Vegas won behind anoother home run from JP Arencibia.
New Hampshire lost by a run and left the bases loaded in both the eighth and ninth. Auburn lost with the eventual winning run for Batavia coming on a bases loaded hit batter.
Las Vegas jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Mike McCoy led things off with a home run and hit a sac fly to bring in the third run. Luis Perez started and couldn't get through five innings. Perez went 4.1 innings and threw 102 pitches. He walked five and also gave up five hits. Josh Roenicke followed Perez and got the win, pitching 1.2 shutout innings.
Las Vegas put up six runs in the fourth. JP Arencibia hit a three run home run and Brian Dopirak added a solo shot.
Every starter had a hit for the 51's. Manny Mayorson had three hits. Arencibia, Brad Emaus and Raul Chavez had two hits each. Arencibia had a red hot June and has gone 2-4 in both of his July games.
Randy Boone came off the DL and was somewhat rusty, he gave up three runs in three innings thanks to five hits and three walks. Vincent Bongiovanni pitched three very good relief innings but in the fourth he loaded the bases with one out. Trystan Magnuson came on and allowed a run on a ground out and two on a double.
The Fisher Cats got their first run in the second inning, Danny Perales tripled and scored when Brian Jeroloman lined a single to centre. Trailing 6-1 in the eighth Eric Thames homered to make it 6-2. David Cooper tripled and scored when Perales singled. Perales later scored on an error, 6-4.
On to the ninth, Thames walked and scored on a Cooper double. Diaz bunted Cooper to third, the tying run was on third with one out. But Perales struck out, Crabbe and Jeroloman walked to load the bases but Darin Mastroianni flew out to end the game.
Mastroianni and Thames had three hits each, Cooper and Perales had two each. Adeiny Hechavarria was 0-4 with a walk and 2 K's.
Brevard County 2 Dunedin 3 - 11 innings
Ryan Page pitched well as he makes his way back off the DL. He pitched 4.2 innings struck out five and gave up one solo home run. Frank Gailey relieved Page and he conceded a run to make it 2-0.
The Dunedin hitters were held to just two hits, by Brian Van Kirk and Wellinton Ramirez, through eight innings. In the ninth inning Tyler Pastornicky drew a lead off walk and Mike McDade hit a two out, two run home run to tie the score. The game went to the eleventh inning. Pastornicky led off with a single, was bunted to second when with two outs Brevard decided to intentionally walk McDade. Jon Talley then struck out but it was a wild pitch, Talley reached first and Pastornicky went to third. Another wild pitch ended the game.
Dunedin ended with four hits. Talley had five K's, McDade and Van Kirk had three K's each.
Lansing jumped out to a 9-2 lead with five runs in the third and three in the fourth. The top of the order, Kenny Wilson and Ryan Goins were the sparkplugs. Wilson tripled to lead off the game and Goins doubled him home. They both walked and scored leading off the third. The big hit in the third was a two run triple from Kevin Ahrens.
Ryan Shopshire started and went five innings. Scott Gracey came on for the sixth, got the first two outs, and then the proverbial hit the fan. Ahrens made an error, a batter reached on a wild pitch strikeout, and eventually Gracey gave up a grand slam, and the score was 9-8. In the ninth Goins singled in an insurance run and then scored on an error to give the Lugnuts a three run margin. South Bend added a run in the ninth and left the tying runs on base.
Goins and Kevin Nolan had three hits each.
Auburn got things going with an unearned run in the first, Oliver Dominguez reached on an error and later scored on a sac fly by Carlos Perez. In the fifth Auburn stretched their lead to 3-0, Dominguez singled in Marcus Brisker and Andy Fermin singled in Dominguez.
Asher Wojciechowski started and pitched just three shutout innings. The 3-0 lead held up until the seventh inning. Shawn Griffith walked the first two hitters and was promptly replaced by Brandon Berl. Batavia got two hits off Berl which combined with an error tied the game at threes.
Leandro Mella came on for the eighth, walked the lead off hitter gave up a double; walked the next hitter intentionally to load the bases; then hit a batter for the go ahead run. A single and a sac fly made it 6-3.
Auburn did not have a hit after the fifth inning. Auburn had only four hits in total, Andy Fermin had two of them.
