Travis Snider has been placed on the 15 day DL (retroactve to May 15) with a sprained right wrist. The Jays will activate Edwin Encarnacion tomorrow.
Randy Ruiz is in the lineup tonight as the DH, hitting ninth. Fred Lewis will be in RF, Adam Lind in LF.
Tonight marks the long awaited return of Orlando Hudson to Toronto - it's been five years since he left, and Hudson hasn't been back as a player. He hasn't even played against the Jays until tonight.
Too bad for Snider. He was just in a nice groove too. Hopefully being out for a couple of weeks doesn't mess with his timing at the plate too much. I'd hate too see him come back and start off with one of those 3 for 31 slumps.
This stinks on hot ice...I had a bad feeling when he was held out for the past couple of games.
Big loss. Snider could have got in a groove and mashed, leading to this year being his breakout season.
I DO like that he has some adversity to face here. He's proven he has as much potential as anyone. Now it's about becoming a great ball player. Recovering from injuries is a major part of that.
I've seen guys go down this road before. Koskie and Overbay had hand injuries and never recovered. While they aren't good comparisons because of they're age and other factors, this is a very serious injury to a young guy.
Here's to LOTS of patience with Travis, and a speedy recovery. Still love what I've seen out of this kid.

If I'm the Jays I would move Wells over to right field.. And have Lewis play center...
Lewis has far to weak of arm to be playing right..

It's just tonight. Tomorrow Bautista will be in RF, Lewis will be back in LF.
I saw the Snider for E5 DL swap coming.
Let's just hope EE doesn't go on a 3-fo-31 slump.

Snider was a career 4/5 against Slowey, too. Small sample size be damned, he hit 2 HR in those 5 AB's/ I really wanted him to play today...
I agree, this injury couldn't have come at a worse time. Snider was really rolling. A .293 BA over his previous 30 days and a .405 BA over his previous 15 days supported what we all knew anyways - that as soon as his BAbip luck turned around, so would his BA. The power is a given. As long as he can consistently make contact with the ball, he's going to put up some nice numbers.
