First pitch is in a few hours. You know the players and all that's involved. So take a shot here -- who wins? Who stars? Who wears goat horns? What happens?

Wildest and most outlandish prediction (that doesn't involve a cuttlefish) wins a home edition of the coveted Batter's Box No-Prize!

Me? Well ...

I hate both teams. Have for more than 30 years. So I see them splitting the first six, then somebody hitting a solo home run in the bottom (or top, whatever) of the seven hundred and sixteenth inning to decide it ...

I also strongly dislike both of these teams. I can't decide whether I want to see the Phillies have a shot to get back to back World Series or not, so I would have to say I'm gonna pull for the Dodgers in this one.

I am pro getting Hudson a World Championship ring.

It'd be more pro if Hudson could get his starting job back.

I'm not sure who I like more.  Not really a fan of either.  I'd like to see Stairs crush the dodgers again, but one thing that would be nice and my cuttlefish agrees (yes i do actually have one but he's not available as a prize)  is that if there is an Angels / Dodgers WS then all of the games will be day games.  Sure it will still be 8 for us, but it would be nice for everyone who has to go to work in the morning or is still in school if the games end at a reasonable hour.

With Game 6 tied in the 10th inning, the bases loaded, and the Phillies leading the series 3-2, Guillermo Mota loses track of the situation and beans Pedro Feliz in retaliation for an earlier change-up that nearly grazed Manny three innings earlier.

Imagine if the Dodgers had traded for Halladay...that would be one impressive postseason roster. Of course, you could pretty much say that for any of the playoff teams.

Regarding the Dodgers.

I can't say I'm particularly impressed (nor would I be afraid of) a rotation consisting of a good, but still rookie Kershaw, a journeyman in Wolf, a player picked up off of waivers in Padilla, and oft injured Kuroda.

The Phillies should win....and if they don't the Yankees and Angels will likely tear that pitching apart, Dodgers stadium or not.

I watched the 9th and the commentary said. "Brad Lidge will have to face the heart of the Dodgers order." Which includes Casey  Blake? Good God the National League sucks.

"a player picked up off of waivers in Padilla"

Yup, hard to be impressed with a guy who posts a 0.63 ERA in his first two playoff starts (against St. Louis and Philly, no less).

It was great to see Pedro pitching like the Pedro of old yesterday.  It reminds you of how great he was and fun to watch too.

"Yup, hard to be impressed with a guy who posts a 0.63 ERA in his first two playoff starts (against St. Louis and Philly, no less)."

I knew some smart-ass remark would follow yesterday's outing.

99, 93, 102, 78, 93, 99 (92, 130)

That is Padilla ERA+ the last six years, with the numbers in brackets being his time in Tex and LA, respectively, from this past season.

I stand by my comment.

Padilla is an extremely talented, only-sometimes-productive pitcher who inevitably implodes in some sort of juvenile breakdown that hurries him out of whatever city he's in. I expected him to do well in LA at first, but can't wait to see what the media overexposure will do to him in '10 or '11. I hope he goes to the Mets next!

"I knew some smart-ass remark would follow yesterday's outing."

When you dismiss the entire rotation of a team that tied for the fewest runs allowed in the majors, my thinking is that you open yourself up to a sideswipe or two.

I agree that Padilla has never really been that impressive, but he's certainly risen to the occasion in the playoffs this year--more power to him. But my point wasn't that the current Dodgers rotation was all that wonderful; it was that adding Doc to the rotation would make an already-good team pretty formidable.
