Jordan Bastian of bluejays.com has twittered that Travis Snider is rejoining the big club while Joe Inglett gets to say hello to Cosmo once again by heading back down to Las Vegas. A tip of the ball cap to Bauxite "razor" ramone for alerting us in an earlier thread about Snider returning in a story from the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Snider is back in Baseball North after basically killing the crap out of the ball in Las Vegas and other ballparks in the Pacific Coast League. The PCL is a notorious hitter's league but the 21 year-old slugger still put together a sterling batting line of .337/.431/.663 for an OPS of 1.094! The left-handed hitter slugged 14 homers, 13 doubles and a triple to go along with 40 RBI in 175 at-bats. Snider was also hitting .439 over his past 10 games with the 51's so his bat is "en fuego!". Among his AAA highlights include a two-home run performance against the Iowa Cubs at Wrigley Field earlier this month. Snider will look to improve on his big league totals of .242./.292/.394 from earlier this season when he hit three homers and drove in a dozen before being sent down in May.
Poor Joe Inglett gets the "Jeremy Accardo treatment" as he's back to "Lost Wages" to make room for Snider. The 31 year-old left-handed hitter goes down despite an 8 game hitting streak in which he hit .310 (9-for-29, BB) to raise his average to .246/.307/.304. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see Snider back up here and he deserves it but I have to admit I have a soft spot for "Mighty Joe". He should be back when the rosters expand in September.
