Colorado Springs 0 @ Las Vegas 5 – Boxscore
Every Las Vegas starter but JP Arencibia had at least one hit with Brian Dopirak and Angel Sanchez adding a pair of a hits. Arencibia was 0 for 4 with three strikeouts. Randy Ruiz and Howie Clark drew Las Vegas’s only walks and Ruiz had the only extra-base hit for the 51s with a double. Snider drove home two runs with a 2-out 2-run single that cashed Buck Coats and Clark. Angel Sanchez knocked in Kevin Howard and Dopirak and Sanchez scored on a hit by Clark.
TJ Beam pitched very well for the 51s. Beam threw 7.2 innings and only surrendered 3 hits. Beam struck out 6 and didn’t walk a batter. Brian Wolfe finished the game for Las Vegas and allowed a pair of hits with one strikeout.
Trenton 4 @ New Hampshire 0 – Boxscore
Marty McLeary started for the Fisher Cats and went 7 innings. McLeary surrendered all four runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. Casey Janssen and Edgar Estanga each threw a single scoreless inning of relief.
Jason Stephens, Kanekoa Texeira, Wilkins Arias, Grant Duff and Jose Valdez combined for a one-hitter by the Trenton pitching staff. Stephens and Texeira pitched 6 innings of no-hit ball before Luis Sanchez got a single off Arias. That would be New Hampshire’s only hit of the game, as Trenton pitchers kept the Fisher Cat bats off balance. Darin Mastroianni, Nick Gorneault and Jonathan Diaz all drew walks.
Sarasota 5 @ Dunedin 3 – Boxscore
Brad McElroy, Moises Sierra and Jesus Gonzalez all had two hits, with both of Gonzalez’s hits going for two bases. Adam Loewen and Sean Shoffit went 1 for 3 with a walk and Kevin Ahrens also drew a walk.
Sarasota was trailing 2-0 after 7 inning thanks to a fine start by Charles Huggins. Huggins allowed 6 hits and struck out four. Trystan Manguson allowed a run in the eighth on a throwing error by Manny Rodriguez. Dumas Garcia got out of the inning but things quickly fell apart in the ninth when Raul Barron and Ahrens both made fielding errors. Garcia surrendered three runs and left a runner on base for Lance Loftin, which also came around to count as Sarasota scored 4 in the top of the ninth to take the lead and eventually win the ballgame.
Lansing 0 @ Peoria 5 – Boxscore
There is not a lot to write about here, as Justin Bristow and a pair of Peoria relievers held the Lugnuts to five singles and one walk. Tyler Pastornicky, Brian Vank Kirk, Michael McDade, Balbino Fuenmayo and Antonio Jiminez had the hits for the Lugnuts. Fuenmayor drew the walk and Pastornicky stole a base.
Joel Carreno gave up 7 hits in 6.1 innings and allowed four of the five runs. Carreno struck out five, but a 2-out 3-run homer in the fourth really hurt him. Hunter Moody and Yorman Mayora finished the game with Mayora surrendering a run in the ninth.
Wiliamsport 4 @ Auburn 13 – Boxscore
In a rare outburst at the plate every Auburn starter but Yan Gomes had a hit and every Doubleday starter reached base. Ryan Goins and Wellinton Ramirez each went 3 for 6 with Goins adding 3 RBI and a run and Ramirez scoring twice. Bradley Glenn was 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs. Chris Hopkins was 1 for 4 with a walk, two runs and 3 RBI. Marcus Brisker was 1 for 3 with a run, a walk and 2 RBI. Lance Durham was 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. Gomes drew a walk and scored a run, as did his replacement, Karim Turkamani. Sean Ochino was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and his replacement, Jonathan Fernandez, drew a walk and scored a run. Jesus Gonzalez, who replaced Kyle Gilligan, was the only Doubleday out of 12 to not either have a hit or score a run, as he went 0 for 2. Gilligan was 1 for 4 with a run.
Matt Wright threw 4 innings and gave up 3 hits. He only gave up one unearned run and struck out eight, but he was forced from the game by his wildness and an escalating pitch count as he walked four Williamsport batters. Matthew Morgal got the win as he allowed one run over 1.2 innings before turning the ball over to Josh Wells. The former Lansing starter gave up a pair of runs over 3.1 innings.
GCL Blue Jays 6 @ GCL Yankees 0 – Boxscore
Ryan Shropshire has been pitching very well for the GCL Blue Jays and he continued that trend yesterday with a complete game shutout over the GCL Yankees. Shropshire gave up six hits and a walk while striking out 7 as the Jays beat the division leaders of the GCL’s North Division.
Gustavo Pierre had a good game in the leadoff spot with a pair of doubles that led to a couple of runs. Oliver Dominguez was 1 for 3 with a stolen base and a run while Carlos Perez was 1 for 3 with a double, a run and 2 RBI. John Roberts and Jack Murphy were both 1 for 4 with an RBI. Michael Crouse was 1 for 2 with a run and a walk while Bryson Namba was 1 for 3 with a run. Nick Zaleski also drew a walk.
