Adam Lind is one of five players vying for the last spot on the All Star Team (barring injury replacement). You can vote for him up a million times a day by going to http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/fv/ballot.html.

Lind is up against Chone Figgins, Ian Kinsler, Brandon Inge and Carlos Pena.

I admit, I am splitting my votes between Lind and Kinsler, who are the two most deserving on the ballot. But I expect the eventual winner to be Figgins, thanks to the Angels-Dodgers "cross-vote alliance" where they are both encouraging their fans to all vote for the LA-located players in each league.

You can actually vote an unlimited number of times.

Kinsler is leading after the first day. Keep those votes coming for Lind!

Vote early, vote often.

I voted about a dozen times already for Lind/Sandoval.

Last night about 10.30 Pacific time I went to vote for Lind 25 times. I assumed there was a 25 limit like the rest of the All-Star voting. SO - I assumed that the computer would cut me off after 25 votes - SO - I didn't count. AFTER 40 minutes of voting my friggin finger was falling off inserting all those verification numbers. I was SURE I'd voted way more than 25 times.

Lind DESERVES our support - this is his FIRST full year in the Bigs - the kid will be a star - get out there and vote for the guy!

the kid will be a star

Not to quibble with your grammar, but you've got the verb tense there wrong. The rest of North America hasn't noticed yet, but the kid IS a star!

Mick - I had a girlfriend once that "quibbled with my grammar" - it tickled.

As to Lind - I agree - EVEN if he doesn't make the All Star team he'll still be a star to us - AND very soon to the rest of the baseball world!

Yeah, apparently you can vote as many times as you like.

I voted till I couldn't type the verification numbers in anymore... I think they should limit it to 10 or so per email just to save wear and tear on peoples fingers and keyboards.

Wilner said yesterday that Lind is in last place in voting.

Well, Lind didn't make it as Inge won the final spot. Inge is a deserving choice with strong defence, although I voted for Lind more than a dozen times. I don't know the final standings, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lind came in last, unfortunately.

Here's hoping Lind still winds up in St. Louis as an injury replacement.

Can't expect Lind to win the vote if the hardcore fans are only voting 12 times.

I put in 2100 votes myself.

Player B   .308/.379/.557   19HR  59RBI

Why on God's green earth was Player A selected over Player B for Torii Hunter's All-Star replacement?  That's Nelson Cruz somehow getting in as Player A over Adam Lind, who is Player B.  I am beginning to hate Joe Maddon.

Hey. Hey. More than a dozen. I probably voted fourteen times.

And yes, one could conclude that Lind was the most deserving outfielder not named to the team by virtue of him being the only outfielder on the final man ballot. So, it makes no sense that when Hunter needs a replacement Maddon doesn't pick Lind, but instead picks an outfielder who is statistically inferior (and not a same-team replacement).

"Major League Baseball said Friday that Cruz was chosen because he received the next-highest number of votes for outfielders on the AL player ballot."

Thomas - Saturday, July 11 2009 @ 11:04 AM EDT (#202536) #
That may be what they said, but it's poor reasoning by Maddon, if that's the case. I'm skeptical it is, as I don't remember injury replacements in past years ever defaulting to the players with the next highest vote total instead of those who are most deserving.

Regardless, I notice the NL managed to do the smart thing and not send the player with the highest vote total not at the game (Alfonso Soriano) and instead one of the players most deserving (or at least more deserving) in Werth.
James W - Saturday, July 11 2009 @ 11:33 AM EDT (#202537) #
They say it was the player vote, not the fan vote.  Soriano definitely wasn't next in that vote.

Aaron will start at second now that Pedroia has decided to stay in Boston with his hospitalized wife.

Maddon added Pena to take Pedroia's spot.
