All but five MLB teams have played at least a full one-sixth (27 games) of its schedule. And the casual fan might need a fifth to make sense of what's happening.

Toronto is in first place? Okay, you knew that. But Kansas City and Texas are leading the other two divisions? And Boston is just barely holding off Seattle for the Wild Card lead? Cleveland is in last place? The Yankees, Rays and Angels are all under .500?

The National League is making more sense, with the Phillies, Cardinals, Dodgers and Brewers all holding way-too-early-to-celebrate playoff spots right now. There are no stunning "losers" just yet, though the Mets surely expected to be better than 13-13.

What team has surprised you the most to this point?

KC being in first is the biggest surprise.  Only the Jays are playing better in the AL right now.  Since 2003 they haven't topped 75 wins and the last time they won more than 84 was in 1989 while 1995 was the last time they finished in 2nd place (1st place last reached in 1985).

Oakland in last in the AL is a bit of a surprise too.  I thought they would contend this year (and still could).

The Dodgers having a killer lead already (6 1/2 games) is interesting but they were viewed as the class of that division.

Happiest is the Jays being 2 over Boston, 5 1/2 over NYY and 6 1/2 over Tampa.  Baltimore, well, we all knew they wouldn't contend but they do normally have an early season jump.  Wonder if their schedule has been easier in the past ala the Jays this year?

Don't know where else to put this, but SI.com is reporting that Manny Ramiriez has tested positive for some kind of performance enhancing drug and will be suspended for 50 games starting today.

I have to admit I'm surprised the Brewers are hanging in there without Sabathia and Sheets and not having Trevor Hoffman for the first part of the year but they're hitting the cover off the ball.  Rickie Weeks and Bill Hall are bouncing back from off-seasons to complement Braun and Fielder.
