A couple comparisons that probably don't mean much from the Midwest League from players drafted at similar positions in the same draft (with similar ABs):

Peter Kozma - .275/.347/.377
Justin Jackson - .252/.353/.388

Brett Wallace - .333/.447/.524
David Cooper - .379/.419/.586

Brian Letko was in control the entire night and allowed just one run during a complete game.

4 double plays certainly helped his cause.

Ike Davis who some projected to be the Jays pick and was picked immediately after Cooper by the Mets is .234  .259  .297 for Brooklyn in the NYP.

I am proud to say that I didn't like Ike.  That's a '50s joke for the benefit of anyone under the age of 45.

Kozma and Jackson are an interesting pair, with very different development questions.  Kozma controls the strike zone well enough, but if he does not develop a little more pop as he grows older, it will be hard for him to succeed as a hitter.  Jackson has enough pop and will take a walk, but his strikeout rate is very high.  One guesses that he has trouble laying off off-speed stuff out of the strike zone- is that it, Lugnut Fan?

BP had a bit that suggested Jackson is too patient.

Looks like the 2 GCL games scheduled yesterday were actually postponed.

The Jays made a smart move today... by promoting Ricky Romero to Triple-A... His numbers do not look great but he has pitched much better of late... Plus he and Jesse Litsch are great friends on and off the field, which should help Ricky's development, given Jesse's great makeup and work ethic... and he knows what it takes to be successful in the majors.

Syracuse has also activated Jesse Litsch for tomorrow's start and demoted LHP Jo Matumoto to New Hampshire leaving their roster at the 24 player limit.

New Hampshire has activated SS Chris Gutierrez from the disabled list and demoted SS Jonathan Diaz to Dunedin.  New Hampshire roster is now at the 24 player limit while Dunedin is at the 25 player limit.

Auburn has promoted LHP Dan O'Brien to Lansing and released LHP Kyle Walter.  Lansing roster is now at the 25 player limit, while Auburn is two players below the 30 player limit.

Gulf Coast has added OF Shannon Stewart on a rehab assignment.

Syracuse has three "catchers" in the lineup tonight: Jeroloman behind the plate, Diaz at third, and Thigpen at first. The last makes no sense to me - Thigpen would have to seriously kick his hitting up a notch to make it as a first baseman.

To me the Romero promotion is just a bad idea.  The kid has been in over his head at AA for over a year now, and he's just starting to figure it out -- What does management do?  Put him right back in over his head again.
