I guess Jaspe has had a lot of time to get ready for the season. He's hitting .370/.407/.521.

Any International signings for the Jays in the past few days?

Gustavo Pierre, a shortstop expected to move to the outfield, bonus was around $700,000.

12. Gustavo Pierre, 3B, Dominican Republic
Pierre is another of the Dominican shortstops, but basically no one thinks he can stick there; third base and left field are the two most common positional projections. His bat shows flashes, but how good his bat has looked varies from one game, BP session, or workout to another. He has sound swing mechanics, but showing an inability to consistently perform in game situations has some teams worried about his long-term prospects.

At 6-2 and 175 pounds, Pierre has some projection left in his frame, quick feet, and some power potential. He has been connected to the Blue Jays for some time, and figures to get a bonus in the $600,000 to $700,000 range

(Gustavo) Pierre is an enigma to me. He has a great body and sometimes runs as fast as 6.5 in the sixty and smetimes runs around 7.0 Really inconsistent with the bat as well. I have to question who is coaching him b/c he has a different stance every time I have seen him. He has a really nice body. 6'3 180lbs. He's very athletic like Alfonso Soriano when he was younger. I think with the right coaching he could be a stud or he could fail badly. high risk high reward type kid.
