Dunedin saw 7 perfect innings pitched against them to start the game as the affiliates went 1-3 on the night.

Indianapolis 4 at Syracuse 3

David Purcey had his second start of the season and it was another solid outing. He pitched 6 innings, striking out 7, walking 2 and giving up 6 singles. The third inning was Purcey's toughest one as he gave up 2 runs on 2 singles, a wild pitch and a 2 run single to Steve Pearce. In the 5th he gave up an unearned run on a McCutchen single, balk and single. It took Purcey 94 pitches to get through 6 innings. As usual, he maintained his fly ball tendencies, getting 8 outs in the air against only 3 on the ground.

With the bats the Chiefs scored single runs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Joe Inglett led off the Syracuse first with a solo shot. In the second Chip Cannon drove in Curtis Thigpen who had earlier doubled. In the third Inglett drew a lead off walk, advanced on a ground out and then scored on an Adam Lind RBI single.

Thigpen and Cannon each had two hits on the night. Thigpen's hits broke an 0-15 start to the season.

New Hampshire 2 at New Britian 3

It was a quiet night for the NH bats. They scored 2 in the 8th on walks by Jeroloman and Klosterman, followed by an Aaron Matthews double. That was the only extra base hit of the night for the Fisher Cats who had just 4 hits on the night.

Jean Machi got the start for NH after pitching solely in relief last year (and once last week). He went 6 solid innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 5 and walked none. Mike MacDonald came out of the pen and pitched a scoreless 8th but gave up a double and single to lead off the ninth to take the loss. It strikes me a little odd that MacDonald is back in AA, and in the pen, after a pretty good season last year. I thought his numbers stacked up well against Josh Banks, but the organization apparently felt otherwise. Perhaps they see his role in relief and are getting him accustomed to that.

Dunedin 0 at Tampa 1

The D-Jays were done in this Game by HHH (Hacker, Henn, and Hovis). The trio combined to shutout Dunedin on just 2 hits. Hacker went 7 perfect innings before being pulled, presumably due to a pitch count.

Brett Cecil got his first start of the year. He went the first 1.2 innings before giving way to Julio Pinto who pitched 4.1 scoreless innings. Tampa finally broke through against Connor Falkenbach with a single, sacrifice, intentional walk and GW single.

JP Arencibia threw out one of 2 basestealers and also had a throwing error on the night. Travis Snider struck out 3 times in 4 ABs.

South Bend 3 at Lansing 9

Lansing jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Amazingly, it all started with 2 outs. Mastroianni walked, followed by a Jaspe double, Tolisano single, Rodriguez HR, Chavez walk, Barron single and Sierra single. The Nuts might have scored more if not for Sierra being thrown out at second on his hit.

Jaspe, Rodriguez, Barron and Sierra each had two hits on the night. Jackson and Ahrens both took 0-4s and Joel Collins went hitless in his first A ball AB.

Trystan Magnuson started for Lansing. He went 3.2 scoreless innings giving up a hit, a walk and getting a K. Cheng got the win, albeit without pitching well. He gave up 3 in 3 innings, and it could have been worse. He walked 4 and gave up 4 hits in those 3 innings. Ross Buckwalter finished off the game with 2.1 scoreless innings.

3 Stars!:
3 - Jean Machi
2 - Joe Inglett
1 - Manny Rodriguez

The FisherCats lose another one today and they are now O-fer after 5 games.  Lucky me, I get to catch the home opener of a team that can't buy a victory right now.  Here's hoping home cooking will do them good!

Was the title of this thread intentionally pulled from a pro wrestler's theme music? Is that a Batter's Box first? Do I get a No Prize? All pressing questions...

I would imagine so, considering the HHH reference in the article.

Is it just me, or does Purcey look like he's going to become Ted Lilly, or at least a reasonable clone of his?  Not bad by any means, but he's going to be frustrating to watch at times with the big club.
