The BBFL has spoken and it said 'No'




1: Should the BBFL increase the number of keepers allowed for each team from the present 5 ?

2: Should the BBFL increase the period it is allowed to keep a player up from the present three years ?

3: The BBFL does not presently limit the number of waiver/free-agent transactions an owner can make each year. Should the league institute a maximum number of transactions?

4: Should the BBFL replace the Innings Pitched Stat category with Holds?

Yes: 2
No: 28

The Trading Window is now open. 

Please use the thread below to announce trades and put your players on the market, announce keepers etc.

The Trading Window closes on March 14th at Midnight EST, this is also the deadline to submit your five keepers for the year.  Please submit them to me via email at bbfl at gwynprice dot com. Please include the your team name, the name and 'keeper year' of each player, and if he's called Chris Young whether he pitches or not.

I will send out lists of keepers on March 15th, so everyone has a few days to plan for the draft on March 20th.  Thanks to all the owners who voted and please take amoment to join your respective leagues.

The Bashers are returning to the Alomar division.

Beckett and Webb are two ace-calibre starters in their prime.  I am looking to enter the season with one of them and use the other to get a front-line offensive player in his prime.

Carter Division:

I have taken over the Trembling Wilburys. Apparently they were too good and needed to be knocked down to Earth by a relatively inexperienced GM.

I am open to trading anyone on my roster if the price is right. That includes megastar David Wright, as well as unheralded stat machine Pat Burrell, Yovani Gallardo, and Mo Rivera. I am particularly looking to shop Burrell, who has neither OBP'd below .388 nor SLG'd below .502 in the last three seasons, and who has averaged 30 homers on the nose over that span. And I'm looking for a shortstop. A really good one.

Chico's Bail Bond's has Burrell, Dye, Kent and Giambi available.  I'm looking for another starting pitcher but I will consider a bat if its the right player.  Combinations of the above 4 players are possible since I already have 4 other keepers.

The Middleclass Elitists have completed a trade with the honorable Burlington Mazters, sending 2B Chase Utley the Mazters way in exchange for SS Jose Reyes.  While it was hard letting go of a player of Utley's considerable stature, the Elitists' roster is looking forward to finally looking forward to a season where the entire SB stat category isn't punted once again.

Hi Drew,

You should go from the end of the year roster.   I believe the keeper list didn’t take into account deals made during last season, so that’s why you might see a player there that’s not on the end of the year roster.

Alomar Division trade: Eastern Shore Birds send Pujols and Johan Santana to the Mighty Midgets for ARod.

(Last season in Barfield my Eastern Shore Birds traded ARod and Ben Sheets for Pujols. So I guess this trade is some kind of karma thing.)

Can someone clarify a rule for me.

If I trade for a player with 2 years service on another team do I also inherit the service tie so in effect can only hold this keeper for one more year, or does the time reset if you aquire a player from a trade ?   My guess is the keeper time will travel with a player as this mirrors the way things work in the real world with free agent status not resetting if a player moves teams, but  then I could be wrong.

unclejim:  the service clock resets for a player every time he moves team.  So if you;re trading for a player it's the time he is on your team that counts.

Alomar Trade!

Baseball North and Horse Field Hammers complete a trade amongst the deadline day frenzy.

Horse Field Hammers acquire stud OF Carlos Lee while moving a 3rd year keeper in Ichiro.

In exchange Baseball North gets Ichiro Suzuki, and Dice-K Matsuzaka.

On a side note - Baseball North considers changing team name to Baseball East after the influx of Japanese talent.
