I'm sure most of us will always associate hearing his voice with the Blue Jays.

Hopefully the Jays have a nice ceremony for him on opening day.
Yes we lost a good one in Don Chevrier.
In my opinion Don was first and foremost a journalist. He called the game like an old school reporter. Just the facts.
In this day and age of boosterism and media / sports convergence hyperbole Don was a broadcaster who let the facts speak for themselves and let the fans decide the what the relevance was.
A consumate profesional and a vanishing breed.
Many of us already missed you Don, and now your gone.
The Jays have really been blessed with some great broadcasters over the years but Don Chevrier was the best. What a voice! As someone mentioned in an earlier thread, it was great to hear him come back and call an inning of a Jays game recently. It was like he never left. So smooth!
Condolences to his family and friends. Rest In Peace.
Chevy, like Tom Cheek on the radio, is the voice I'll always associate with the Jays on television. He had such a tremendous feel for the game, a great set of pipes, and seemed to pair effortlessly with whomever was sharing the booth with him at the time.
I missed his one inning encore this year, but what a treat it was to hear him and Don Duguid on the NBC Olympic coverage in '02 and '06, calling curling like in the old days on CBC. I don't know what they teach at the broadcasting schools these days, because nobody is developing talent like Chevy anymore. And it's a real shame.
It seemed to me that Don did everything. And everything he did - he did better than most anyone else.
I really hope he was a great and good man to those that knew and loved him - because he seemed that way to me. A huge loss to us fans of sport and fans of great presenters - but an unimaginable loss to those family and friends that loved him - my heart goes out to them.
We were very lucky the Jays had such great announcers so early on.
