The recently signed Mark Redman gave up one run in 4.1 innings.  G.O. Gronk got an interesting save - 2.2 innings, 2 runs, 5 Ks.  Vento and Fasano each had two hits.

New Hampshire 1 at Harrisburg 10

Eric Fowler didn't make it out of the first inning in this one.  The lone bright spot was Matt Roney's 3.1 innings of scoreless relief with 6 Ks.  Sergio Santos had 2 doubles and a walk in 4 PAs.

Milb.com is running rosters, stats and box scores for DSL games as well with even slower postings than the GCL games.  Interestingly, the Jays are one of a few teams to have 2 DSL teams.  Nobody in the 17-18 year old age group particularly sticks out except maybe Kevin Fuenmayor (based on their DOB's likely a cousin of Balbino) is a 17 year old pitcher with good size and decents stats.

Does anyone have any analysis on Redman?   I know the Jays could have signed him in the offseason and decided to pass, and most people thought that was a good decision at the time.  I guess his price has dropped considerably since then.   Presumably he was signed for depth, in case Chacin doesn't recover and Burnett has more injury problems and Towers is not signed next year.   Does Redman have any potential at all to be more than an Ohka or Thomson or Zambrano??

Does anyone have any analysis on Redman? I don't know if this qualifies as a detailed analysis: he's not very good. He has been absolutely pounded this year in his few ATL starts, to the tune of a .380 average and 1.058 OPS against.

His career totals are better - along the lines of .280, .773 respectively with a K/9 of 5.47. Eerily similar to the career line of old friend Tomo Ohka, who sits at .281, .771. with a K/9 of 5.04.

Does he have potential to do more than Ohka this year - i would say highly unlikely. He seems to be AAA filler, at best. There are far more useful arms in the system in the event of a call up. He has never thrown hard and has relied on deception with off-speed stuff - sort of a poor man's Jamie Moyer. For whatever reason, that deception no longer seems to be as deceiving as in years' past.

From what I can tell on MiLB.com, Ty Taubenheim has been demoted to AA, I'm assuming to make room for Mark Redman in AAA.  Also, Brian Jeroloman has been placed on the reserve list, and Edgar Estanga has been promoted to Lansing (he's even pitching today).

Reidier Gonzalez is coming back nicely from his injury.  His K rate is increasing, and has been about 8/9IP over the last number of games.  His W rate is nice and low, and he has been getting hitters to pound the ball into the ground. To do this in Lansing at age 21 is quite good.  He would certainly be in my top 10 pitching prospects now.
