The London Tigers are still riding high in the Carter division, holding off spirited challenges from the Clownfish and New Jersey Stratuses, but there's a change at the top in the other two divisions. The Eastern Shore Birds take over at the top in the Barfield division, and the Magic 9 ride a 9-2-1 week to a three game lead in Alomar.
The Trembling Wilburys have gone 32-14 over the past 4 weeks, going from 10th to 4th, and are making a charge at the top of the Carter division. Look out!
Since a crushing 1-10 loss to Baseball North in week 4, the Eastern Shore Birds have flown on the wings of good fortune to wins of 8-4, 11-1, 10-1, 9-2 and 9-2. I'm fairly certain that this is the first time since I became one of the charter members of the BBFL that my team has been in 1st place. In celebration of this event, the ownership has rewarded each team employee with a bushel of blue crabs, 2 pounds of Little Neck clams, a sweet-potato pie and a group outing to the 2008 Chincoteague Pony Swim.
Taking over the Alomar Division roster of misfits and malcontents known as the Eastern Shore Birds, the new management team swept the floors, trimmed the hedges, mowed the lawn, and changed the sign on the door to Magic 9 so 3RunHomer has double the reasons to celebrate this week. You can keep your crabs but perhaps send over some sweet potato pie.
Ummmmmm ... pie. But who doesn't like crabs? Nice steamed crabs with Old Bay seasoning? What kind of person is running that franchise now anyway?
You didn't get rid of Wright or Zimmerman, did you? (shudder) I want my team back!
