AJ Wideman had the best performance of the night as the affiliates went 1-3.
Durham 4 at Syracuse 2
Not too much excitement in this game. John Hattig had three singles to lead the Chiefs offense. Curtis Thigpen had a single and his line for the year now sits at .314/.378/.455. Thigpen has only struck out 13 times in 132 PAs.
Jim Crowell came out of the pen to get the start for the Chiefs giving up 3 runs in 3.1 innings. The bullpen was strong the rest of the way with Good, Wolfe and Houston not allowing any earned runs in 5.2 innings.
Reading 10 at New Hampshire 3
Russ Savickas had a rough 3rd inning giving up 6 runs and getting pulled. Jo Matumoto came on in relief and threw 4 scoreless innings.
At the plate Ryan Patterson had a strong night hitting 3 doubles in 4 ABs. Robinzon Diaz hit a solo HR, his 2nd of the year.
Brevard County 0 at Dunedin 4
Is Brevard County a new FSL team or did they just change their name? Anyway, AJ Wideman took the hill for the D-Jays and threw 7 scoreless innings. He gave up 5 hits, (all singles), 1 walk, and struck out 5. Seth Overbey, recently called up from Lansing after 24.2 scoreless innings, pitched a scoreless 8th inning. All three outs came on groundballs. I didn't realize it, but Overbey's GO/AO ratio in Lansing was 7.5:1. Connor Falkenbach pitched a scoreless 9th for the shutout.
Luke Hetherington had three hits for Dunedin out of the lead off spot. Jacob Butler and Eric Neilsen each had 2 hits as the D-Jay OF went 7-12 on the night.
Lansing 5 at Peoria 7
Chase Lirette had a rough night. He gave up 2 in the second inning and 5 in the third. After that he settled in a bit and through three scoreless innings.
Yuber Rodriguez had three hits on the night including a HR. His line sits at .210/.258/.311 - about the same as it was last year. However, he's 12 for his last 38 with 5 extra base hits. Sean Shoffit also chipped in a HR and Jon Jaspe had two hits.
3 Stars!
