Ty Taubenheim got the start for the Chiefs and pitched quite effectively. He went 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and two walks. He struck out 6.
A quintet of players had two hits each: Lydon, Olmedo, (notorious) JFG, Mottola, and Duncan.
New Hampshire 3 @ Bowie 1
Jesse Litsch is off to a strong start this year. Yesterday, he improved upon that throwing no-hit ball over 7 innings, walking just one and striking out 9. Jesse Carlson came on in the 8th to continue the no-hitter. He got a ground out and then hit a batter which prompted a change to Tracey Thorpe. Thorpe got a fly ball and strikeout to end the inning.
In the 9th Thorpe struck out the leadoff man, walked the next hitter, and struck out the following batter. With two outs Thorpe gave up a run scoring double to lose the no-hitter and the shutout.
Second baseman Juan Peralta got half of NH's 6 hits on the night.
Litsch gave up 3 runs in his first start of the season. Since then given up just 1 run in 32.2 innings. And he only faced Connecticut once!
Dunedin 5 @ Palm Beach 3
Brandon Magee picked up his first W of the year pitching 7 innings and giving up 3 runs. He struck out 1, walked 3 and gave up 7 hits.
Kyle Phillips had 3 hits for the D-Jays. Cota, Hetherington, and Jeroloman each had two hits.
Quad City 5 @ Lansing 7
Graham Godfrey got his first action of the year and pitched well considering that. In 6 innings he gave up 2 runs - both on solo shots. He struck out 3, walked none and gave up 6 hits.
Lansing had 8 singles on the night. Travis Snider was the only nut with 2 hits.
