Rule Proposal Result
The BBFL had only one rule proposal this season, regarding whether to restrict the number of transactions allowed. I tallied the votes earlier today and discovered we had a tie vote. I sent out one last request for votes, received several more, and… we still ended with a tie, 18-18.
The BBFL Constitution doesn’t speak to the handling of ties in rule ballots, thus an executive decision is necessary. It seems fair to me that a majority, not a tie, should be necessary to amend the league rules, so the proposal to restrict the number of transactions has failed. (Lest there be any skepticism, I personally voted in favor of it, as did the incoming commissioner.) So, transact to your heart’s content.
Trading Window
The Trading Window is now open. Trades must be announced here or to the commissioner no later than 1159pm PST, Tuesday March 20. Protest procedures apply as always.
Schedule
Announcement of keepers begins immediately after the trading window closes. Keepers must be finalized by 1150pm PST, Friday March 23. If you haven’t announced them by then, the commissioner reserves the right to pick them for you (based on Yahoo’s rankings and who you’ve picked in the past).
Each division’s draft will begin at 900pm EST / 600pm PST, Thursday March 29. YOUR FIRST FIVE PICKS MUST BE YOUR FIVE KEEPERS!
Finally
As BBFL members already know, I’m abdicating the commissionership to longtime Roster member Gwyn Price. Because of a new writing gig that will start in a couple of days, I’m also giving up my membership on the Roster. I’d like to thank Box founder Kent Williams for asking me to join (in 2003? I don’t even remember.), and it was a pleasure to be associated with such a wonderful group of writers and people. When Toronto wins its next division title, I’ll be cheering along with you.
