Fergie Olver is a candidate for the Ford Frick Award? Even at nearly 200 candidates, that's staggering. Does the nominee list include anyone who's ever appeared on a major-league team's broadcast?
Not to be a wet blanket, but if Tom didn't get it the year he died, he's not going to get it at all. His name will keep showing up year after year on the list, but there'll always be a retiring veteran member of a US-based team's TV or radio team who gets the award. This ship has sailed.
Cheek has the consectutive game streak and the Joe Carter call in his favor so I don't think he's necessarily out of the running.
I think he has an equally good case as Cheek.
Firefox remembered all of my information for me. The only thing I had to do was uncheck the boxes that permitted MLB.com to spam me.
I am voting for Tom Cheek. He had an impressive resume 28 seasons as voice of the Blue Jays. Listening to the radio is not the same without Tom. I am also voting for Jerry Howarth;
The other guy that I am putting on the ballot is Dave Van Horne original voice of the Expos/ He is the current broadcaster of the Florida Marlins.
