Sorry, Coach -- I'm rooting for Detroit. And here's Nate Robertson:

Okay, first of all, poor King Carlos. But at least my loyalties won't be divided. I almost always hope for the American League team, but Delgado would have made that hard.
Oh, and Baby Molina should have been the MVP. He hit better than any other Card, had the series winning HR and called a great game. No offense, Soops.
And the Cardinals had a worse record than the Jays in the regular season. October is crazy.
Well, at least we saw a great game tonight -- the first truly great game of the 2006 postseason. Usually, the baseball gods reward us sooner and more frequently.
Joanna, consider this: The Cardinals, counting regular season and postseason, have lost eighty-two meaningful games this season. Unless they win the Fall Classic in six or less, they'll break the all-time record for meaningful losses by a World Series participant -- currently held by the '73 Mets. And the Cards didn't even reschedule their 162nd regular season game, since it wasn't relevant to the pennant race. Given how they were playing a few weeks ago, they may well have lost that one, too.
Throwing this question out there -- which outfielder started a more spectacular postseason double play: Devon White in 1992, or Endy Chavez in 2006? That was a tremendous catch, and would have been amazing even if it weren't so clutch.
poor King Carlos.
He's the number one reason I actually feel sorry for the Mets. I even feel sorry for Willie Randolph, even if he was a former Yankee. I feel sorry for Chris Woodward, who I forgot was on this team until Joe Buck mentioned him as a pinch hitting possibility in the 9th. I actually found this Mets team likeable - a New York team, no less.
I honestly thought the Mets were going to find a way to pull this one out. That catch Chavez made off Rolen was amazing! I thought Chavez was going to deliver the big hit when he came up to the plate his next time up. Even when the Cards went ahead, I still thought the Mets were going to pull it out against Wainwright, who I thought would get rattled and would realize that a trip to the World Series was at stake, and that Delgado would get a chance to win it.
I was as happy as anyone to see the Tigers beat the Yankees but I'm still bitter over '87 and I would like to see the Cards win it. I think the key to the series will be Kenny Rogers versus Jeff Weaver, probably the last two people on earth anyone expected to take a starring role heading into the post-season.
