Rochester 7 Syracuse 2 - 6 innings (rain)
Jamie Vermilyea didn't have his good stuff last night and allowed all seven runs in five innings. Meanwhile Twins prospect Matt Garza won his first AAA game as he held the Chiefs to four hits in six innings. The hot Wayne Lydon had a double and a triple and scored both runs.
The usually reliable Michael MacDonald gave up six runs in the first inning last night and the Fisher Cats could never recover. MacDonald gutted out six innings giving up seven runs. Chip Cannon and Manny Mayerson had two hits each for the Cats. Ryan Patterson went 1-4 to keep his average at .316.
Billy Carnline, too, had a bad day, eleven hits and five runs allowed in five innings. Dunedin only had five hits.
In this game the starting pitcher did make a quality start, seven innings, two runs for Kristian Bell. Aaron Wideman pitched the last two innings as he works his way back off the DL. Nine hits for the Lugnuts but no runs, Jason Armstrong, David Hicks and Luke Hetherington had two hits each.
Zach Dials started and pitched a one-hitter over five innings. Dials ERA at Auburn is down to 0.45; he has allowed only eleven hits in 20 innings. Before you get too excited he has seven K's in those 20 innings. Matt Liuzza had the only home run, a 3 run shot in the eighth. Local player Jonathan Baksh went 3-4 with two runs and 2 ribbies. Matt Lane and Ben Zeskind had two hits each.
Reidier Gonzalez started and gave up two or three runs in four plus innings, but he did have eight K's. I say two or three becuase the box score says three but the game log says two. In any event Derek Tate relieved and gave up a grand slam. Pulaski scored three runs in the last two innings and had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game. Raul Barron and Luis Fernandez had two hits each for Pulaski.
