A Jay exploits the AAA landscape.
There is one thing that I think is going on in Lansing that is going mostly unnoticed and that is the arm of Briam Bormaster. Bormaster threw three guys out trying to steal last night and has thrown out 63% of all base runners trying to steal on him (24 / 38). Not bad for a guy that didn't start catching until his sophmore year in college.
Can we get a stay hot for Brian Pettway? He has struck out 77 times so far this season. He is on pace to shatter the franchise's strike out record in Lansing.
There is a good description of Burnett's repertoire yesterday in the linked article. The only concern seems to be whether he feels OK today.
Lots of action in the minors tonight.
Josh Towers has pitched six innings allowing one run on four hits. Towers gave up the run on three hits in the first inning, since then he has allowed one hit in five innings. The Chiefs are down 1-0 after six and have only two hits off Humberto Sanchez, the hard throwing Tigers prospect. One of those hits belongs to Sergio Santos to extend his streak.
Kurt Isenberg and the Fisher Cats are also down 1-0 in the sixth. The Cats are being no-hit so far but they did turn a triple play in the sixth.
Dunedin's Jesse Litsch pitched a seven inning shutout in game 1 of the DH, Ricky Romero has a six inning shutout going in game 2 as Dunedin goes for the sweep.
Lansing are winning 4-2 behind Aaron Tressler as Josh Bell and Brain Pettway have homered.
Sometimes you have to say "I told you so". From Matt Michael at the Syracuse Post-Standard.

Blue Jay Way for Syracuse At their regular meeting Monday, the SkyChiefs' board of directors voted to renew Syracuse's Player Development Contract (PDC) with the Toronto Blue Jays for two more years through the 2008 season. The Blue Jays still have to approve the PDC, but Toronto officials have repeatedly said that they want to return to Syracuse. The board considered dropping Toronto, but it was concerned that it would end up with a team it didn't want, such as the Brewers or the Nationals. Syracuse and Toronto are in their 29th year together, making their partnership one of the longest in the minor leagues. |
