A wet Monday sees just one game for the Toronto farm, and the Dunedins make it a good one.

Rochester @ Syracuse: Postponed, rain.

New Hampshire: Scheduled off day

Dunedin 14 @ St. Lucie 5

In a battle of first-place teams, Western Division leader Dunedin thrashed the best of the East, St. Lucie, by a 15 – 4 count. This one was never close, as the Jays put up 2 in the first, 5 in the 3rd, and 4 in the 4th before the Mets answered with a 5-spot in the bottom of the 4th. The D-Jays took it easy for the next 4 innings before throwing up 3 more runs in the top of the 9th.

Ryan Patterson once again got a nice head start on his week’s work with a huge Monday, slamming a homer and a double as part of a 5-hit night. Robinzon Diaz kept pace with 5 singles. Chris Gutierrez and Ryan Klosterman smacked 2 doubles each, with Gutierrez adding a single and Klosterman a walk for good measure. Juan Peralta made it a quintet of multi-hit Jays, slapping 3 base knocks.

Eric Fowler pitched 5 shutout innings and one inning of 5-run ball. He allowed 10 hits along the way, striking out 6 and walking none. Danny Core (2 innings, 2 K) and Daryl Harang mopped up in shutout fashion.

Elsewhere, the Fort Myers Miracle prevailed 6 – 2 over Palm Beach to remain tied with Dunedin atop the West.

West Michigan @ Lansing: Cancelled, rain.

Three Star Selection!

The Third Star: Chris Gutierrez, a single double double.

The Second Star: Robinzon Diaz, slaps out not one, not two, but FIVE singles.

The First Star: Ryan Patterson, developing a strange fondness for Mondays.

Patterson just turned 23 and is hitting .331/.381/.585 in the FSL.  He would normally be up for a June promotion,  but Adam Lind occupies left field for the Fisher Cats. If Patterson is promoted, some fancy footwork would be required to ensure enough work for everyone.

Mike, the easy solution might be a 3-man rotation at 1B, LF and DH between Patterson, Adam Lind and Chip Cannon.  Right now the third member of that rotation is Vito Chiavarolotti, who is not producing at all.

Does anyone have an idea as to where in the lineup Patterson projects? I don't think he will be a number 3-4-5 hitter, but maybe a solid 6-7, similar to Trot Nixon?

Patterson also made Baseball America's Hot List. Chip Cannon is "in the Team Photo"

From everything I've heard, Lind is far from an ideal left fielder anyways, so I'd have to agree with Maldoff. Dropping Vito down to Dunedin seems ideal at this point, as he hasn't hit at all in Double A the past 2 seasons. Maybe he'll rediscover his batting stroke in the FSL.

If I remember right, Patterson has played his fair share in rightfield also. I see no reason why Patterson shouldn't be moved up to AA.

I got to the Lynx game late.  6pm starts aren't good for me.  My first impression of Taubenheim was that he gives up home runs.  But apparently he had a no-hitter going until I got there.  Big guy.  He was pulled mid-4th inning, consistent with rumours of a Saturday start in Denver.

Ben Weber came in.  He looked pretty upset after his home run ball.  It was kind of strange the way he gave the ball to the manager afterward, kind of standing on the side of the mound and reaching out.

I think it was my first time seeing Hattig play as he was disabled most of last year.  I'm not much of a scout, but defensively it seemed like a lot of balls were just out of his reach.

The boxscore says the attendance was 988 (for some reason they didn't announce it after the game).  That was with the 25-cent hot dog promotion.  Trying one, I'm sure the hot dog was cooked, I'm just not sure how many hours earlier.
