Sweaters, shirts, etc. etc.

I wanted Ken Burns Baseball and................ didn't get it :(
No tickets, but I did get a pristine condition 1992 World Series Champs shirt off of Ebay. So yeah, I'm running a little behind on my celebrations.
I got five pairs of tickets to the Blue Jays games of my choice next year, a Louisville Slugger bat (just like the ones the Jays use) with my name on it in the same place Vernon Wells has his, and a few books about baseball. I'm definitely looking forward to going to some games with my dad and some friends next year. :)
Uh... STATS sent me a 2006 calendar?
I don't care! I've got a new hard drive and a DVD burner! I foresee a happy day ahead with a disconnected computer sitting on the coffee table, and myself poking about its innards.
Upgrades!

Books...the Numbers Game, and an order for Prospectus 2006 and Hard Ball Times placed.
What a wonderful time we live in ,with the ready access of baseball data and discussion via the internet, statistical based books galore, baseball action games. Wow.

A 2006 BlueJays calander.
Unfortunetly it has the likes of Hudson and Hillenbrand, who I'm sure won't be with the team next year.

Two season passes!
Good to see you around, A.
So what baseball related gifts did people get?
I got the Schwartz book, Numbers Game.
What I really want to know is: what kinds of baseball gifts did Jay Burley and Theo Reynolds get?
Jayshop, Jayway.
That's nothing Ryan. My 2005 calender I'm using right now has Chris Woodward and Josh Phelps on it. Do they make these things 2 years in advance or something?
That's real nice Forbes. I think I'm goingto get my recently purchased Miguel Batista jersey re-crested. But who to get...it's nice to have choices as supposed to either Doc and Wells.

Light on baseball-related gifts this year, as I needed socks, gitch, shirts and other practical gift things. I did, however, get Bill Simmons' _Now I Can Die In Peace_ (verdict after 50 pages : fun book, and boy has Simmons improved as a writer from the late 90s). I already got DMB season disks for my birthday last month (All-Time Greatest Players and the 1929 and 2005 disks) so I was well ahead on my baseball gifts.
Jay didn't get *any* baseball gifts! Thomas the Tank Engine toys and books dominated this year's gift market. He did get lacrosse sticks and we got a new box of baseballs last month. The Burnett jersey mentioned just above gave me an idea, though, and there's still gift money to spend...
Bad news is I'm not getting a season pass. Good news is, I'm getting a second kid instead, in February, and that's well worth catching the Jays' sixth division title run with either Jerry Howarth or gv27.

Considering the team we root for the most, I think the title of this thread can be a little more original.
I got a nice big pile of cash so I'm thinking of using some of it towards a road trip to Seattle to catch the Jays.
Also I'll be getting John Schuerholz's book. Something tells me this book will be a big seller among the baseball community. This book is still under the radar right now but I'm sure the hype will start pretty soon.

My dad got me (and this is gonna' seem like an odd selection to most): a Jays cap (fullback), a black Jays jersey and get this, an SS LOOGY autographed ball. Seems my dad (who works for Coca-Cola) had a chance to meet a few of the players at some sort of a meeting in October. My father (who probably only knows Roy, Vernon and O-Dog by name)said that Scott was the best dressed so he figured he must be the best paid and therefore the best player. Either way, I'm a diehard Jays fan so the gift was much appreciated. Maybe I'll start collecting LOOGY autographs (anyone got a Jesse Orosco)? Merry Christmas to all ...
What I really want to know is: what kinds of baseball gifts did Jay Burley and Theo Reynolds get?
Theo got a promise of a new Jays cap, since his old one (which clearly states on the label that it is for "up to age four") no longer fits on his gigantic one-year-old head. But I'm afraid that he'll grow out of it before baseball season, so we'll probably get it at the first day game we attend in 2006.
I got a wonderfully old-fashioned charcoal barbecue, and I realized that I have a house, a backyard, a son and now a barbecue, and summer will be just fantastic this year.
And then I got thinking about how I wish Tom Cheek was still around to be a part of that scene. It's just not going to be the same without him.

Got a new black hat (old one was *gasp* misplaced), a SEASON PASS OF DOOM, and... MY FIRST JAYS JERSEY. Authentic home white, no name (I'll get it crested early in the season, but I want to know who'll actually be on the team first).
Vintage Cubbies hat - not sure from when, though - its blue - the logo resembles a depressed teddy bear holding a fishing pole...
Hope you all had a wicked holiday - may your dreams be filled with VORPS and OPS'S and other silly statistics... ;)

I gave Hannah a chocolate lab puppy which she named Robbie. I can only assume the name came from a former Jays second baseman. :)
So, she's no longer hung up on Dave Berg, eh?:)
Maury Brown reports in today's THT that baseball's new arrangement over steroids and amphetamines is called the "Joint Drug Agreement". Ah, echoes of "Dazed and Confused". Apparently, last year's violators will effectively receive pardons and treated as first time offenders if they test positive this year. Casey Jones, you better watch your speed...
Maybe some older fans can clue me in here
I got a book from my dad from the 80s about some guy named "Syd's" take on baseball at the time. I can't recall right now his frist name.
My dad tells me he was a baseball guru of the time
However I opened up to a random page and read his glowing description of young up and comer Jim Bowden making a great GM one day and that raised an eyebrow

Sounds like Syd Thrift's book "The Game According to Syd". I'm not an older fan, but Thrift was a scout, helped found the Kansas City Baseball Academy, was GM of the Pirates, and was most recently the GM of the Orioles from 1999 - 2002.
My Dad is getting me a BJ Ryan jersey. I don't have it yet as apparently it is not available. Perhaps it is just from one particular store. But why wouldn’t they make it available for X-Mas, when presumably, there would be a spike in jersey purchases? Weird.
At any rate, I think it is a good jersey to get. He should be around for a while, and is a good bet to be a premier player at his position for a few years.

Tyler, and for anyone else looking to get a pre-purchased Jays jersey crested:
The Jays Shop themselves don't crest out of town jerseys or even their own jerseys that aren't purchased at the time of cresting. And unfortunately, very very few stores have the real cresting to do the right job.
That said, I found a good place in the Beaches that will take an out of store jersey and give it the authentic cresting for 50 bucks. They will also put any name on it you want, regardless of which player plays for which team. So if you want to grab an Orlando Hudson jersey before the Jays Shop locks them up after the press conference, this store will make you one. (MLB liscensed stores are not allowed to give real cresting for team jerseys bearing names of players not on the team, so they give you a cheap grey cresting for the same price which is a ripoff).

I got a daughter to take to Jays' games! That's the best present ever. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it. Sydney and her Papa down the 3rd base line looking for foul balls.
I bought myself MVP 2005 for xbox, which is just awesome. Its the last one EA Sports will be doing, since Take-2 Interactive now have exclusive MLB rights. Nothing like the futureshop boxing day sale... it was cheap! Despite not being able to be MLB licensed, I hope I will be able to download roster updates for 2006.
My son gave me "The Teammates" by Pulitzer prize winner, David Halberstam. On the cover is a great colour picture of Bobby Doerr, Dominic DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, and The Splendid Splinter. Going to Florida in a few days; so I'll wait until I get a warm seat in the sun before I start reading. It'll get me in the mood for spring training and the exciting new Blue Jays!
My business associate gave me "Triumph and Tragedy in Mudville" by Stephen Jay Gould. My son has told me that I will be getting The Hardball Times Baseball Annual and a Baseball Prospectus subscription.
The Gould book is actually more interesting for its digressions on evolution and chaos theory than for the baseball, although some of the stories are quite wonderful.

Well, I got the 2006 jays calender, and, although not specifically related to baseball, I got a subscription to Sports Illustrated, so Im pretty happy.
